LP is somewhere between decent and good. I must not be alone in that thinking as we were there on a Saturday night and there were plenty of tables available. Clams oreganato, risotto balls and chicken meatballs were all fine. Chicken Milanese was a big disappointment but the pork chops giambotta was very tasty. Their menu is too large; they should cut it down and feature just their best. Atmosphere was pretty flat. I believe LP has been in town for a good 20 years and it shows. They can use a refresh of their decor. Service was fine. Not friendly but not unfriendly. Courses came a bit too quickly.

I've been here often - living up the street. In fact, the day the power returned after Sandy, here I came. Buy it was the bustling Saturday night when this tall goid looking quiet guy with his even better looking blonde wife and their three bubbly urchins came and quietly sat and had their dinner that quite a few things coalesced in my mind: the beauty of civility in my little Summit where kindly people can sit and enjoy their communal privacy while also loving the quality food. We the kind who left him alone and Eli Manning the kind who had a cozy night with his beloved family. This place is so good that this past November 18 on my birthday, after another unpleasant workday and feeling the world had forgotten me, I ordered dinner. They got the order wrong but it's such yummy chow - I liked that better than what I'd ordered! And engage the sassy occasionally crabby owner - she's a gem. Her sister has own trattoria in Red Bank!

I did take out last week. When i came to pick it up it was not ready and of course it was my fault for coming at the time i was told. The woman i spoke with was nasty with an ATTITUDE. I left and came back 15 minutes later and it was ready. Food was good but who needs the ATTITUDE. There are many good Italian restaurants in the area. Sayonara La Pasteria!

We hosted a private party with over 60+ guests. The menu options we chose for our guests included rice balls as an appetizer. Each table varied in size and number of adults. We provided the restaurant all details a week prior including the table layout which was requested with the number of adults and kids at each table. The table I personally sat at included 6 adults (includes myself) and 4 kids. We were served 4 rice balls. This happened at several tables and when guests asked for more they were declined. The same thing occurred when the Family style entrées arrived. Speaking for my own table, we were served four pieces of chicken parmigiana for six adults.Other guests shared similar experiences at other tables after hearing following the party.I followed up with the restaurant where I was told each guest was “entitled” to one rice ball and one piece of chicken. Although that still seemed odd to me as its family style and there should be ENOUGH to feed a party, there was still not enough for each adult at each table with what they said. The owner offered a gift certificate in which we declined the offer as we do not plan to return.

Great food. Plenty of parking in the rear. On the main shopping drag of Summit. Great for a quick bite after holiday shopping or a family dinner.

I ordered the pasta fagioli and carbonara. The pasta fagioli was extremely salty. The carbonara was extremely oily and had far over-boiled noodles. The sauce was not creamy, and it had a generally unpleasant taste.I would recommend you avoid this place.

La Pastaria was the choice of my ailing but recovering older brother (USMC ooooraaaah) to show us some authentic Italian hospitality and cuisine. What began as my first call to LP from Georgia in July resulted in an October evening of total success...all due to our serving associates Tatianna (sp.) and Sebastian, who double-handedly covered an energetic potpourri of tables - couples to 8 top birthday parties - with a panache to match any restaurant. But...Ambience had to be backed up by cuisine and high marks for all including starters of several house and Caesar salads, a clams oreganata then entrees of shrimp fra diablo chicken parm, pumpkin ravioli and a pizza served to custom/crispy perfection. A well/planned emotional reunion could not have had a more convivial setting. When it comes to dining in Summit, NJ, do not tarry.

The food is great..the service is very good but think it's cheesy when they charge you extra for every little thing, i.e. instead of red sauce on my side of pasta, I asked for garlic and oil. I think any good restaurant should accommodate and try to please. They said that it would cost an additional $4.95 for the garlic and oil. I also noticed on the menu they charge I believe it was $3.00 extra if you share a plate and of course 3% extra if you use a credit card. This restaurant is a bit pricy to begin with with most entries around "$25 to $29. We had first gone there for lunch and there was only a few tables occupied. We loved the food and the place. This more recent time we went for dinner and it was a full house and extremely noisy.. I'd love to go back and I think different wait staff may not "run up the bill" the way that waiter did with the sauce. I could really love this restaurant because of the food.. We had the grilled vegetable platter, the eggplant Parmesan a salad and the grouper special with the side of pasta with garlic and oil and an espresso. It really is great food.

I just want to share the most unprofessional experience I had today. We forgot our leftovers at the restaurant at 8 pm and when we called at 830pm to claim our food, a waitress named Sherry told us, " not our problem " and hung up. I called back to speak to the assistant manager who transferred me back to Sherry. She told me I was unreasonable, raised her voice at me then disconnected the call. I have never had such a horrible unprofessional experience in my life. The food was average but after such a horrible, undignified exchange, I would not go there. One would expect some degree of customer service after spending almost $200 there. I would strongly suggest Pastaria to let go of such a personnel before she ruins their business. I will never go back because of SHERRY! Who needs abuse when trying to have a relaxing evening out.
