If I could give it zero stars I would. Food is good but the female waitress/hostess/owner is the grumpiest & nastiest human I've ever encountered. She has so much bad attitude & gave off the meanest, most ungrateful vibes. She made our experience awful and was dressed very inappropriately. We will never ever be back.

I was disappointed with my dinner. I had a crab cake which was enormous , unfortunately one side was cold & the other side was lukewarm. My husband had the fish & chips and they were excellent. The waitress/owner was nicer than she ever was. She is not a pleasant person, but I don't eat for the personality of the waitress! I have had dinner in restaurants that were awful, but the waitress was very pleasant! So what would you want good food or an adorable waitress?!

Appetizers and mains always fresh, served quick, and delicious. Better desserts would get a 6th star, but on the strength of the kitchen and wait staff, the joints an easy 5. Also they're BYOB.

Food was excellent. From the freshness of the food to the portion size and pairings I enjoyed every aspect of the meal. There was an attention to detail that I would expect from a “fine dining” restaurant. And to describe my experience as anything other than fine dining wouldn’t do the meal justice. Bravo Velo. I will absolutely be back.

The hostess/waitress one in the same. I understand being a small restaurant. However she was not pleasant from the start. She never asked us if we would like something different to drink other than the glass of water she brought with the bread. Now looking at the menu we are paying a minimum of $25 a plate Then look over at the hostess/waitress she is a very loud walker while walking thru the tables. The I notice she is wearing cheap flip flops and a pair of shorts like I use to wear as a kid. Really we are paying good money for our food and that is what she thinks is expectable attire. And she is pound while setting and clearing tables. But the food was very good. Lisa

For a restaurant with zero wow factor inside or out (you'll see what I mean the second you pull up), they really have to rely on two things: their food and their customer service. Their chef is a genius, the food is wonderful and creative, the menu changes weekly, it's BYOB, BUT.. We tried this place pre-COVID and were less than impressed by the hostess who completely ignored us for over 5 minutes. When we finally got her attention (from doing what appeared to be busy work), she stopped us mid sentence, held her finger out and said "YEAH. I SEE YOU. One minute!" while sighing and rolling her eyes. Honestly, we should have left right then. The food was great but honestly, all we remembered from the night was our experience with the hostess. We again tried Velo during COVID when they were only doing take out orders. My husband didn't realize that they were cash only. Luckily, the hostess let him know in the absolute rudest way possible. He left, went to an ATM, and came back. He again asked for his order and she said "no you walked out!!" - YEAH TO GO TO THE ATM! She did end up giving him the food which again was delicious, but once again, an experience ruined. You try to support local businesses especially during times like this, and not a single grateful bone in that woman's body. Sad, really. I'm assuming this woman is (or is related to) ownership based on all of these reviews and her still being employed. The food itself is delicious and creative so it really is a shame that this one woman has to ruin it for the rest of the business.
