I come here once or twice a week for the most part and I love this place. The chicken cheesesteak hoagies are the best in town. Perfect flavor. I also get the pulled pork, rice with chicken peas and tostones and it's my favorite. Everything has so much flavor and the employees are friendly and very nice! I recommend this place over almost every place in Trenton!

This tiny Spanish American pizza joint sits just off the intersection of Chambers Street and Hamilton Avenue in Trenton, NJ. It is catty-corner from the old Trenton Central High School and next door to Mannino's, which recently closed its doors. As with many such places, the ownership is Hispanic, and the menu crosses cultural borders between Mexico and Italy. They do empanadas and pizza equally well. My lunch was on a blustery weekday, with the wind blowing so strongly that they had to keep the door locked to stop it from blowing open. Inside, there are only two small tables, with most of the business being carried out the door or delivered. They had a banner on the wall with lunch specials for $6.25. I went with the chicken quesadilla. It came with side of fries and shredded lettuce. That may not have been the current pricing, as my bill with bottle of Snapple, came to over $10., which didn't make sense unless the price was about a buck higher, or they were just ripping off the Gringo. Didn't feel that way, so I give them the benefit of the doubt. The quesadilla was pretty good, if not best of breed. Plenty of chopped grilled white and dark chicken with mellow cheese and mild chilies. It was tasty and filling. Only real downside was that the cook was in sight putting everything together with his bare hands. That was a turn off, and it was obvious this was the normal state of things there, and that the health department hadn't visited for a long while. I recognized the risks, but went ahead and consumed it all with a bit of red salsa and dab of sour cream. The fries were ordinary and not worth the caloric intake, so I left most of them behind. The lettuce was likewise, ignored. There are far better Latin American houses around Trenton, both in terms of cuisine and comfort, but there are also some that are worse. La Cocina is somewhere in the bottom half.

Best. Crust. Ever. The meat lovers pizza was awesome. The cheese fries were made with actual cheese rather than nacho cheese sauce, so that was a pleasant surprise! Delivery time was a little long (35-40 minutes on a Sunday night) but worth the wait IMO.
