Food is always good and even on a "bad" day, they will be better than any other restaurant offering anything remotely close. Always my first option.

I called in my order in advance and when I arrived it wasn’t ready. Mamas used to be good but they fell off big time. Not sure if they changed chefs or what but the ribs used to be fall off the bone and they aren’t anymore, Mac n cheese is super oily with not so much flavor and they raised the prices by a lot. Not worth the money as it was in the past

My girlfriends invited me to join them here after church. I ordered the whiting meal with mac & cheese and yams. Drink- uptown and peach cobbler. Love the atmosphere. Food came out hot, not warmed in microwave like some others. The meal was tasty, favorable and good. Especially love that the yams were not 'doctored up canned" but real. Whenever I come north from Trenton, this will definitely, be a stop for good food. Also reasonably priced. 4 good size pieces of whiting.

This is the real thing. Get your fried chicken and ribs, with Southern sides. Also a delicious pulled pork with BBQ sauce. And great homemade desserts. Only a few tables for dine in.
Frequent here often. The shrimp dinner is always my go to. It never disappoints!

Stopped in for pulled pork sandwich bc I needed protein. A nice lady advised me that the sandwich only comes with a roll - not toasted - & pork, no pickle or any other veg. They've smiled saying they don't eat veggies. I've asked for some coleslaw on top so the price came to be $20.74 for a Sandwich...tad pricy for my late lunch snack. We opted for a dinner w/2 sides and I've requested that I need meat and not fat or skin...unfortunately, besides 3 little pieces of meat that I've fished out from a semi-tepid stew looking fat & fibrous blob served in aluminum foil, there was No Meat!! Coleslaw was nice & Mac-n-Cheese was very oily w/o much taste. I had a hunch Wholefoods should have been my choice....Sorry, but I can not recommend this place.

I worked with Mama's Southern Style BBQ II to cater a Black History Month luncheon for the school that I work at. The service from the first call with the catering manager Iesha to the pick-up of the food on the day of the luncheon was smooth and seamless. The food was delicious, we ordered Macaroni and cheese, collard greens, Yams, and potato salad. Everyone was very pleased with their meal. I would recommend anyone looking for authentic soul food to give them a try. You won't be disappointed!

The service was horrible. The girl taking the orders was sitting down popping gum asking can I help you with a nasty attitude. the others who I guess was hostess was just ignorant. They don't greet the customers at all. they were to busy having conversation among themselves. and then, when the girl was serving me my food, she just swung my bag over to me. I really was ready to lean over and just grab her but I would never ever go there again. They are rude disrespectful, and the food wasn't even all that great.

This place is really unprofessional i placed a order on Uber eats and they didn't get my order correctly after I got off the phone with them this place food wasn't even good theac and cheese salty and the chicken was stale never
OMG - soooo good! Came highly recommended and they did not fail one bit! My very first time here...Got the whiting, cabbage, and candied yam (really to die for) dinner n they give u corn bread made with sweet potato (?)Will definitely be back FOR MORE!!
It was 2pm on a Sunday while staff and doorman refused to open door for service, as my daughter and i stand confused that no one came to explain anything just rudely starred at us. Never opened door. I think it was racism or some form of prejudice. Because when i went there i was with Black American friends had no issue, even extra nice because my friend is a regular customer. My daughter and I look Spanish but we are bi racial, we get this treatment from alot of black owned business in NJ. I will never go there or recommend. and im debating whether to press charges. Incident on video. But as a person of color, i rather they do better and treat people equally. But if it happens again to someone else, no mercy.
Just dropped in on a Wed around 3. There was no line. Ribs (2) were amazing, juicy, tasty, should be on a tv show. Mac n Cheese was not pie style, more soul style, and cheese wasn't sharp. Collard greens and chicken were good. Corn bread was great. It's $20, but I would split it with someone or have 2-3 meals from this quantity.
