Paula baked a stunning custom ocean-themed cake for our 4 year old. Not only was it beautifully crafted, but the flavors and textures were out of this world! It was definitely a highlight among many others from our toddler’s birthday party and it got us a lot of compliments! We will definitely commission Cake Fiction again for many other occasions.

This past October my partner and I worked with Paula at Cake Fiction for our wedding at Jack’s Barn in Oxford, NJ, and were so impressed! We initially set up a tasting at their kitchen/shop, which was so much fun. Paula and her husband were so lovely and their shop space is too cute! We booked them on the spot, and worked with them to design a two-tier wedding cake and a dozen cupcakes. So delicious! They were a hit at our wedding and we still receive compliments on the cake/cupcakes. We’d recommend Cake Fiction to anyone who’s looking for a tasty and unique cake/dessert for their event!

Our first experience with them was a traditional carrot cake for my 40th birthday ordered through a local restaurant which was just like a cake my grandmother used to make and amazing.Yesterday, we enjoyed this custom anime themed cake for my daughter’s sweet 16. While anime may not be anything, the team at Cake Fiction took the challenge and even hand painted an amazing titan.The price was fair and they were so easy to work with.
Cake Fiction was the one vendor we used from a recommendations list our venue gave to us. I am SO glad we did. Their barn itself is also super cute, just going up for the cake tasting session was magical in itself. Picking just 3 flavors to sample from their list of cake combinations was so hard, which was a good thing! You are allowed to have a different flavor for each layer of cake at no additional cost, so we had fun with those.We picked the olive oil cake with passion fruit cream, the walnut almond pound cake with raspberry mousse, and the lemon cake with orange flower blossom cream. Well, my husband talks about that passion fruit cream more than any other part of our wedding (I try not to be too upset about that), it was that amazing! My favorite flavor was the raspberry mousse, and I keep hearing a ton of compliments on that flavor in particular from our guests. The only critique I would give to Cake Fiction is that they didn't give the venue a list of the flavors so nobody knew what each layer was and my husband and I had picked the flavors months before and couldn't remember either.I also appreciate how up-front Cake Fiction was with their pricing, which is listed online on their website to give you an idea of an estimate for your cake. We ended up going with a naked cake with just buttercream frosting on the outside which saved us a bit of money, and it looked so beautiful after our florist put a couple of flowers on it for us and it really fit in well with the theme of our barn venue. I made my own cake toppers out of clay and they were a little heavy so I was worried about them on top possibly sinking into the cake, but the cake was sturdy and the topper sat up there proudly!And finally, Paula is also the sweetest lady ever and you can tell she really has a passion for her work. It's lovely that we have such a great wedding cake baker in New Jersey. Now if only they would open a tiny bakery so that we can get two cupcakes with our flavors next year for our anniversary. :)
