I was there on Saturday night around 6:30 PM. It was not our first time there, so seeing the parking lot empty, it was no surprise to us. They usually do not have a lot of people, but the food has always been decent. When we went inside, we saw that we were the only customers in the diner. The staff seated my husband while my sister, daugher, and I went to the restroom. When we returned to the too small booth we were approached by our waitress. We didn’t get a warm welcome at all. Not a “hello”, or a “how are you guys?” Absolutely nothing. Her first question was “what do you want to drink?” as if she did not want to serve us. We gave our drink order, and my 3 year old (who apparently had more manners than this adult) thanked the waitress without even an acknowledgement from her. When she came back, my husband was ordering his food (one of the dinners) and she asked for our menus before asking him if wanted soup and/or a vegetable. My husband asked what soup they had before she just started walking away, and she told him after a huge sigh, and very rudely. When he made his choice, she asked if he wanted that instead of the fries. My husband was confused because he thought the menu said it didn’t come with fries, so he tried to ask what she was talking about. She then started arguing with him over whether it came with fries or not instead of just clarifying what the item came with. After she started to walk away, my husband asked her if she was okay because it was pretty clear she did not want to wait on us. She then tried to again argue about the fries and at that point we had enough. We stood from the table and left. My husband asked to cancel our order, and that is when the owner tried to pull him back in by his arm. The owner tried to explain that dinner was on him and to come back - giving the impression that this has happened before. When we declined, he tried to pull the door closed so we could not get out. It was ridiculous. We will never go back and I will tell my friends & relatives to not even bother going here in the future. Bad business for a diner that seems to never have customers.

Was there on a saturday night at around 6:30 PM. My sister, brother-in-law, and I decided to stop in with my three year old niece even though there was hardly any cars in the parking lot. But, we had been there several times before, and the food was always decent. I have even ordered take out from them for lunch. We came into a completely empty resturant except for the person at the front and several wait staff sitting in booths on their phones. We were greated by the always friendly woman who sat my brother-in-law while my sister and I took our niece to the restroom. When we got to the table the waitress came over to take our drink orders. Not only was she not welcoming at all, but it was almost as though we were bothering her for being there. She did not say hello - just angrily asked what we wanted to drink and responded with a “yup” each time one of us ordered. When she came back with our drinks, she didn’t even acknowledge my niece when she tried to talk to her. While we were still ordering our food, she asked for our menus before we were even finished. My brother-in-law then asked her what kind of soup they had, since the menu stated that his dinner came with a soup. Apparently that was the wrong question to ask, because she acted like that question was the most offensive question she ever heard. She angrily rattled off the soups with a disgusted look on her face. When my brother-in-law said what he wanted, she asked him if he wanted the soup instead of whatever else came with it. My bother-in-law tried to clarify if the soup came with the meal, and she started arguing with him instead. My brother-in-law then asked if she was okay because it was quite clear that she did not want us there, and she instead continued to argue about the soup. After she finally responded with a “wow” and walked away shaking her head and rolling her eyes at us, we were done. I have never experienced service like that in my life. We decided it was time to go and told them to cancel our order. As we were leaving, the owner tried to grab my brother-in-laws arm serveral times and then tried to hold the door closed to block us from leaving saying the food was on him. We declined. We will never stop here or order take out from them ever again.

My entire experience at Alps Diner in Wayne New Jersey on Route 23 USA was excellent. I had the Park Ave wrap while my partner had the Texas Cowboy burger. Both items were very fresh and delicious to say the least. The wait staff was also very attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. Definitely recommend this place if you're in the area and want a nice meal. Also worth mentioning is the cleanliness of the tables menus and overall diner.

I love this diner...just wish it were closer. Wifey and I have been here 4-5 times and for some reason I never reviewed it. Last time we went, I had an omelet with ham, cheddar and spinach with grits and rye toast. I love grits - so if they are on the menu, I'm getting them. Wifey had the California omelette with avocado, scallions, tomato and cheddar with well done home fries and rye toast. Coffee was just ok...it was a new pot and seemed like it could have been a little stronger. Staff has always been friendly and service was pretty quick for how busy they were the past couple times there. I like the old school feel of this place, reminds me of the diners we'd go to as kids.
