We had the pleasure of meeting Aqeel Chaudhry the Manager at Izumi while there to celebrate my mom's 86th birthday. He was filling in as bartender that night and made my mom and our entire family very comfortable while waiting for all our guest to arrive. What a great sense of humor he has! He even made my mom a Pina Colada which made her night. We highly recommend Izumi for the great people and delicious food. Thanks again Aqeel!

Amazing food, staff and value - will never go anyplace else for Hibachi!! Our chef was talented and entertaining but also considerate of my daughter being a vegetarian and put the meat on the grill only after her food was already cooked. Delicious!!

The manager and server were attentive, making sure that my son with ASD, and the rest of our party were happy. They prepared my son's food the way it needed to be so my son would eat it. They also had french fries to substitute for the noodles. I hope the manager sees this review. You have no idea what it means to special needs parents to have someone go out of their way for you when they don't have to do it. I thank you all!

Food was really good but unfortunately service was poor. We saved up to go out for valentines dinner and made 9pm reservations weeks In advance - we got there 8:50 and then by 9:15 they were shutting the lights off on us because we were the only ones even though we would’ve just came another time! (They close at 10pm fyi) and they were standing there with their jackets on and then came over with TO-GO boxes! Obviously we were uncomfortable so we paid and left (we didn’t even get our icecream :(

Consistently delicious. The manager and Eddie the waiter are always willing to go out of their way for anything you need. Can be loud at times, but it's because they're always so busy. Wish I lived closer to go more often.

The exterior may be deceiving but Izumi is a classic yummy suburban hibachi restaurant!! Also, Aqeel (the manager) was so kind and accommodating to my daughter who has Celiac - went above and beyond to ensure she had a gluten-free meal safe from cross contamination! Will definitely be back :)

I've been to Hibachi dinners at Izumi's Japanese Steakhouse for about 25 years. We are faithful patrons and for good reason. The portions are generous. The taste is consistently good. My children actually eat izumi vegetables! The price is fair. We've celebrated graduations and birthdays. For a Christening, we occupied the side room and the sliders were shut for extra privacy. Just pick your protein for dinner. Your dinner is: custom protein, onion soup, salad, shrimp, vegetables, lomein, white rice, ice cream. Fried rice is available for an extra fee. To keep costs down, you can order a la carte which means you get clear soup (instead of onion) and no shrimp, no ice cream. You can go last minute with or without a reservation. This has been a saving feauture when out of town guests pop in. There is a wait on weekend nights. The chefs are entertaining. You will have leftovers to take home. I recommend Izumi Japanese Steakhouse on Rt 23, Wayne, NJ. Their hibachi is a great option whether it is just 2 of you or even if it is 20 of you.
I am so impressed by the staff at Izumi. I called to make sure they can make my food gluten free. They said yes, no problem. But when we got there they did not have any GF soy sauce. The manager immediately sent someone to the store to buy some. Then the food I had was so incredibly good. Everyone had a great time from the kids to the parents. We look forward to going back soon!
We call ahead for a 6pm reservation, arrived on time, and by 7:20 still had not been seated. We left. Looked forward to the food but the hostess and Owner were completely disorganized regarding handling reservations and seating. Hospitality 101.

Great food and friendly staff at this NJ hibachi restaurant. Similar experience to most hibachi places but these guys definitely seem to like fire (see photos).
