Decent enough Shanghai food for NJ, but non-Shanghai menu items are clearly intended to just meet the low expectations of the uninitiated. Suggest keeping to native Shanghainese choices and avoiding the dishes that were meant to be Cantonese inspired. Service is always pleasant and makes the trip to the restaurant worth it. Atmosphere is that of an old but solid restaurant with aging furniture and dim lighting. Recommend: Hot and Sour Soup, Soup Dumplings and Spicy Wontons. Do-Not-Recommend: Scallion Pancakes, Chow FunWheelchair accessibility: Ramp available for wheelchair access

We went to Shanghai Bun based on the great reviews. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The menu is nicely varied compared to other local Chinese restaurants, and the food was okay, but only one item, a special was better than other local spots. The restaurant facility itself is in need of a total upgrade. The seats have holes and cracks in the vinyl. The restrooms have mold growing on the woodwork, and we left with our clothes smelling like fried food. Maybe just get take out.

Shanghai Bun in West Windsor offers a decent dining experience for those craving authentic Chinese cuisine. During a recent lunch outing with my son, we sampled a variety of dishes including pork soup dumplings, wine chicken (served at room temperature), spicy beef noodle soup, and pan-fried chive buns. The standout dish of the day was definitely the spicy beef noodle soup, which delivered bold flavors and just the right amount of spice to tantalize the taste buds. The pork soup dumplings and pan-fried chive buns were also enjoyable, meeting our expectations in terms of taste and quality. In terms of service, we found the staff to be attentive and accommodating, ensuring that our needs were promptly met throughout the meal. While Shanghai Bun may not be for everyone, it delivers solid food and service that are in line with expectations. Overall, it's a decent option for a casual lunch, and I wouldn't hesitate to return in the future.

Food is ok; but management services sucks. I took my daughter friends to celebrate her birthday. we were 16 people we all eat there. I bought a donut to sing her the happy birthday. They did let me take the donuts out. They said no food from outside. I asked for napkins to eat the doughnuts at the parking lot, they denied napkins too. After spending more than $400 dlls they couldn’t give me couple napkins?!?! Is ridiculous! Never going back again.

Buns are fresh and filling. Duck was dry and lacking flavor, not as crispy as I like. $15 green beans, that was suggested. It was the only special on the board with no price. Good, but not $15 good. Chicken satay was very good, but small 2 Tsp cup of peanut sauce cost a dollar extra. Nice waitress. Clean restaurant. Okay food.

Went here with my coworkers for a Team outing. We had pork buns, pork soup dumplings, smoked bacon and rice cakes, and Hong Kong wonton soup for appetizers. We ordered and shared double cooked pork, spicy beef, shrimp and lobster sauce, chicken fried rice and sesame ribs. All dinners served promptly and were huge. Everything we order was hot and delicious. I recommend going to Shanghai Bun.

Visited with coworkers for Chinese New Year lunch. Our coworker guide ordered everything for us, and it was grand. Traditional food and very tasty. Spiciness was very tolerable for the dishes that had it. Service was excellent!

The restaurant is a typical Chinese restaurant, food was “ehh”, it had no taste, the server bought us our food first & when we were halfway through our soup was delivered. I won’t go back.

This place is unhinged. This is not your typical chinese restaurant. While I know nothing about actual Chinese cuisine, everything here just tastes so different and fresh. The pepper chicken; should be illegal it's so good. The cucumber app is obscenely complex and delicious for CUCUMBERS. And I have formed new flashbulb memories eating the chicken dumplings with peanut sauce. Very friendly staff and food comes out hot and fast. Love this place.
