“Great casual option with a large and varied menu that has something for everyone! We kept it simple and shared chips and guac, and each had an entree (quesadilla and burrito). All the food was good, but nothing struck us as a must recommend either. The restaurant has a lot of customers collecting take out and was full on a Friday night, so the servers were kept busy. It took us a little bit to get our order in, but once it was food was fast. It was also 6pm on a Friday though! We loved the decorations and ambiance. It looks like they have limited outside seating as well for nicer weather. It is BYO, and what I wish we realized in advance is if you bring liquor you can mix it into cocktails! I think they even made margaritas for the table next to us with their tequila bottle. Definitely looking to try that next time!”

“Always great food at a reasonable price. This is a smaller, locally owned restaurant. Always fresh ingredients and they pride themselves on making sure the customers have a great experience!”
“We went here as a group of 10 after work and brought food. The bartender was welcoming and kind. I enjoyed the “Irish Uppercut” red ale. Thanks for having us!”

“Recently renovated, a great spot for a dive bar, a few pool tables, plenty of TVs and the bartenders are great. If you're local definitely check it out. I've been there a few times and never had any issues and everything came out great and everyone was friendly.Parking: Definitely park across the street in the lot, they only have like 6 or so spots in front of the bar.”

“They have really fresh multi size and price blue crabs. Along with all thy other seafood items raw or cooked. “Jodi” the service is tough but to know her is to love her, she’s been there through COVID. So she’s always great and very detailed with the orders whether it’s a phone order or dine-in. They also sell out fast. So make sure you call in or go early in the day. APlus for me always ?Parking: They have an on-site parking lot that's attached to the restaurant. With about 8-10 spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis. (free of charge) Difficulty only when their business. Most people place orders to go. So I never had a problem parking.Kid-friendliness: They have seating away from the bar…. booths and four top tables.Wheelchair accessibility: The Entire restaurant is on one level, including the restrooms with a wheelchair assessable stale.”

“Just tried this for the first time. Very good! My friend got the nachos and they were terrific. I got 3 beef tacos with rice and beans. I really enjoyed them. Very filling. The young lady who waited on us was really nice. It is usually counter service but she took our order. I would like to go again sometime.”

“1st time there and was pleasantly surprised. It was like walking into an episode of Cheers. Joe and Melissa made everyone feel welcomed. They greeted people by name or if they didn’t know you, they talked to you like a friend. What a great place to eat and have fun.”

“I absolutely love Frankie’s pizza! Their Buffalo chicken pizza makes my taste buds water just thinking of it! I love their food overall. It’s never disappointed. My husband loves pizza from most places but he knows that the only way we are getting pizza is if we get it from Frankie’s! Great service, always hot and fresh and great staff.”

“With an ever-changing menu, I know that no matter what vegan dish I order from Primary it’s always going to be exciting and delicious. Many of the dishes have kept me up at night from the french toast to the cheesesteak and the jackfruit medianoche.Chef Mark has always been hospitable and attentive, and you can tell how much passion he has for his plates and his community. This restaurant is truly a gem in Philly and the team behind its magic deserve all the success. If you’re looking for a place to try, you cannot go wrong by visiting Primary.”

“I've been here a few times, it's a fun place to bring people because of the whole speakeasy vibe. They don't take reservations so it's hit or miss if you can actually get in. Drinks are hit or miss for me too. Over time I've done drinks from the menu and the bartenders choice. I know it sounds silly but I really dislike the ice they use! It's like ice chips which cheapens the drinks, which seems to go against the suave swanky vibe. I got the pickle mule this time though and really liked it.”

“The Love. Umm, yes please. The vibe. The food. The staff. All great.I went for a solo dinner while in town for a conference. I initially wanted to get the fried chicken with grits and collards but my Server mentioned the special for the night, the ribeye with macaroni & cheese and said he’d go with the ribeye. So I did! It was a double the price but I was out of town and why not treat myself to a steak! It did not disappoint, so so good. Unfortunately I had a bit of a headache so I didn’t have a cocktail but the iced tea was good. ? I live in Atlanta, so hopefully I’ll be back soon enough to try out a drink. I had a lovely meal and it was pretty busy Sunday night. I guess it’s a popular spot.”

“Having grown up with Texas breakfast tacos I was excited to see a spot in Philly to create what I was missing from home. Bfast taco was good, flavor was def there. A bit on the pricier end for a breakfast taco, even with a homemade tortilla. Was hoping all salsas were given out as well, tried the guaijlo , had good flavor. Not sure if I’ll be a reg just because they’re pricey. But I do appreciate what they are bringing to Philly.”

“Pretty good experience! There was a little bit of a mix up with what we ordered but they instantly took care of it and got us the rest of our food. Some of the food was hit or miss. The broll, Bloc party, Hijiki, and e I shumai was great but I didn't really like the chashu because it was a bit gummy and the wings were not my favorite. But other than that, it was all great. I will definitely come back soon to try more things :)”

“Delicious food and excellent flavor combinations. Much of the food is meat but I absolutely recommend for vegetarians. The cauliflower mezze was extremely well-flavored, the chickpea and eggplant mezze had fantastic texture, and the oyster mushroom kebab was one of my favorite dishes I’ve ever had.”

“The best sashimi and I have ever had. Stopped in here 3 years ago by chance -- looking for food before a concert at Gloria Dei Old Swedes Episcopal Church. I was able to get a few things, not a set menu. They did not put soy sauce or anything on the bar or tables -- they said they were preparing it just as it should be prepared. And it was so! Looking forward to coming back.”

“Bought shrimp tacos, chicken tacos, esquites, chicken tacos and guacamole. The only downside is that the chicken tacos were made with dark chicken thigh meat, I wrongly assumed it would be chicken breast (my fault for not asking).Otherwise good decent food!”

“Very small intimate space with the open kitchen directly on the floor. Had an incredible experience here! The staff was super friendly and bantered with us all night. The stand out to me was the scallop toast, it practically melts in your mouth. Though everything we had was excellent flavor and presentation wise. I will absolutely be back!”

Their warmth and professionalism added to the overall positive experience. It truly felt like dining among friends, thanks to the camaraderie and genuine hospitality present in the atmosphere. One aspect that stood out to us was the unmistakable sense of family at piston diner. From the way the staff interacted with each other to the comforting ambiance, it was evident that this establishment is more than just a place to eat - it's a community hub where patrons are treated like extended family.Furthermore, we were deeply touched by the diner's evident respect and appreciation for the military. It's heartening to see a business that honors those who serve our country, and it speaks volumes about the values upheld at Piston diner. If we lived in the area, Piston diner would undoubtedly become a regular haunt for our family. Side note: there was one employee that was working the front who was an older gentleman that was pretty crabby with the employees for the duration of the time I was there and seemed to effect work place morale negatively.”
