Absolutely love their food!! If you want delicious and juicy chicken this is the place to go to and the price is amazing as well I always come back to them. That’s how good the food is!!!
This is my favorite local place for Portuguese BBQ. The food is flavorful and the service is always pleasant. They get very busy, especially around noon, so make sure to call ahead to avoid a wait. This is more of a takeout place and parking can be tricky.

This used to be our favorite bbq spot... butTonight I called to place an order and waited on hold for 10 minutes (we know they get busy, so no problem there!) But when the woman finally picked up the phone she had a horrible attitude. A family member of mine has multiple food allergies - including corn and dairy. I asked if their meat was cooked in butter and what kind of oil they use in the fryer. Both of these questions seemed simple enough, and it's necessary information to know if my family member could consume the food. The woman told me that those are "questions to ask the boss or the health department". I figured she was confused at what I was asking, and so I reiterated my question and explained I was inquiring due to food allergies. She only repeated what she had previously told me, but was obviously becoming more frustrated. I said "I just have to know what type oil it is.... vegetable, canola?" She interrupted me and said she could not disclose that information but then said "we have customers waiting so do you want the food or no?". Terrible customer service. She obviously didnt know the answer to my questions, but also made no effort to find out. Im not sure why she thought i should call the health department in regards to ingredients that their restaurant uses for the food? Horrible attitude...So so rude. Such a shame, will definitely not be ordering from there again.

Ever since they closed and reopen the food taste bad and the chicken is way way smaller like the once u buy from shoprite that is the whole chicken same weight as a normal chicken breast really bad and it happend more than 3 times the first 2 times I said maybe its a mistake but its not and they so stingy with the hot sauce loved the old owners that's for sure won't go there again ill drive to Newark elm st even tho I live in Woodbridge

Our first visit to Estrela De Serra Portuguese BBQ in Colonia, NJ was truly rewarding. Serving delectable Portuguese barbecue, we enjoyed the combo of chicken and ribs with rice and French fries. While red beans come at an extra cost, they're well worth it.The restaurant was spotless and the pricing fair, reflecting the high quality of food. Although it's easy to miss due to its unassuming location, this is a place you wouldn't want to overlook.In essence, Estrela De Serra offers top-notch food that justifies a visit if you're in the area. A hidden gem that's highly recommended.

Just not the same since Danny left.. used to love this place.. ordered a rib and chicken combo and they skimped out on everything except the rice .. they didn’t not give me a half order of chicken and barely any fries and the ribs were nasty.. just loaded the tray with rice. Also ordered a salad and they didn’t even put any sort of dressing…Won’t be going here anymore!
