Very good food but it will be the last time that we will stop.The prices are totally ridiculous and there's no need for it.You might find the excuses that everything is more costly to bring in but there's no need to charge over $3 for a cup of tea and over $2 for a coffee.You can't tell us that a packet of coffee cost like over $24 to buy per packet, this is crazy. They use to be free.We had a supper the night before 2 hot hamburger with a glass of wine and a beer for cheaper including the tip.No wonder the restaurant was empty, next trip we will go at the hotel across the street.

My wife and I went for lunch. We had the soup of the day and that was a big bowl of soup. I had the seafood platter and it was fantastic. The fries I had were a little less crispy then I like but was great.

The Missus and I were travelling with our boys, two sisters plus husbands and a nephew. A travelling group of nine with the extended family first time in Nfld. So I suggested Irving's Big Stop as our first meal when we landed in Deer Lake from the Westcoast. Some were hesitant.The meal turned out to be one of the best meals we had in Nfld. The server was very fast and efficient with our larger group. The orders came as "ordered". All the food dishes were delicious. One can't beat their breakfasts and the coconut cream pie was a game winner. The extended family was converted. Don't let the gas station restaurant combo throw you off. We even picked up a case of Quidi Vidi Iceberg for our continuing travels.Highly recommend if you are in Deer Lake.

I’m not pleased at all with the service I received over the phone this evening. First I called at 7pm to see what time they close for takeout orders. I was told as long as your order is placed before 7:45pm and your here to pick it up by 8pm because that’s when we close. I said ok no problem. I’ll call back in about a half hour once I’m finished work to place my order because I was working and didn’t want to place the order unless I new for sure I could make it. So I called back about 40 mins later (7:40 on the dot) to place my order .. which was a SALAD. The lady on the phone told me that the kitchen and restaurant was closed. So I began to tell her I only called about half hour ago and was told as long as I place my order before 7:45pm. She basically told me no that’s incorrect over a flippin salad and started saying the grill was closed.. I said I don’t want my salad grilled... I said well I’m not sure how two people working at the same place would have different rules. She made me feel like I was lying to her and that I didn’t call talking to anyone prior. So I said ok that’s fine I will call the manager tomorrow to tell him what happened and state that rules of closing and ordering should be given to all employees with the same information. All over a salad. Blows my mind. I don’t need the grill man to stay late. And well oviously the server taking the phone call wanted to lock the door earlier to get home earlier.. I did not appreciate how I was treated over a salad. Blows my mind. People are that bad they don’t even want to take your order because it will probably cut into there cash they counted an hour before closing an have to count it again… and wanting to get home earlier, it’s wicket, I will not be supporting deer lake Irving any more after being treated like this. And I will be calling the manager.
