“Best fish n' chips I've had in on the Avalon Peninsula, honestly. Fish was unbelievably fresh, thick chunks of beautiful flaky cod, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Lady behind the counter was a sweetheart too!“

“WAY better than the guy next door! First time I had Leo's - am from out of town. The food was incredible - the fish was like butter, the batter was perfect. It was crisp on the outside and had a little chew to it. I had the 2 piece with a "few" fries...even for a few...it was a LOT! My aunt had the same but with a "lot" of fires...way too many fires...lol.(not complaining - it was the prefect amount - we took some home) And the fries were great as well, they reminded me of the way Harvey's used to make them - double fried...yum! The gravy was typical restaurant gravy, but with a home-style light color to it...we liked it, and it was a full cup - served in a coffee cup. Will go back again now every time I go to St. John's if I want fish and chips. The tarter sauce....well, that could use some work. They had those little packages - not so great. It's easy to make...just sayin. Oh - be forewarned - the place is a dive, literally almost walked out when we saw the inside...but glad we didn't the food was excellent, wait time was about average for food - about 30 minutes and others were there before us. And the onion rings were awesome too! Server...took a bit for her to warm up, but then she came around...standoffish, but friendly... It's an experience that's for sure...and worth a trip in...again...and...again.“

“Stopped in for a drink after eating out. The music was great but there were no available seats, the drinks were pricey and the doorman kept letting people in. My bf and I only had the one drink and left. High point, aside from the music, no cover because it was my birthday.“

“I ordered Cod Bites and fries, to go. Food was ready in 10 minutes. I really appreciate the packaging! Brown paper to soak up any extra grease and the food didn't sweat! Cooked fabulously, fish still moist and batter crunchy. Homade fries double dropped to a dark golden finish. ( my personal preference - I prefer a thinner batter. However, it was enjoyable )“

“Ches's is a must do in Newfoundland. Fish and Hip with gravy and dressing I my absolute favorite...don't judge it until you try it. Newfoundland Saveur dressing is unlike any other dressing you have eaten. The staff is great and the food is exceptional.“

“Extremely hospital service as you would receive from local newfoundland locals. I had the fish and chips and they were great. The batter was light and crispy, which enhanced the flavor of the fish. However, if used for the chicken it would give it a more bland flavor. The chips were a seemingly handcut, full body but not crispy. Similar to five guys fries. Overall a great experience and would recommend to try.“

“Came by on a recommendation from a local friend and was not disappointed!Fish was fantastic and not greasy, batter light and crispy... Portion are great size and very reasonable price. Fries were great, wished for more British style, but still satisfying!View is spectacular, especially around sunset, and service was so very friendly.Only small nag is packaged tartar.. would like a homemade sauce option.“
