With so many places on Kenmount Road closed or closing early it was good to find somewhere open for business. Cheap and cheerful, it did just what it said on the tin. Had not realised the Canadian operation was totally unattached to the US company. Even better!

Stumbled across this little place as a last minute venue. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was reasonably priced for what is on offer and quite tasty too. Worth a visit.

My wife and I had not been to A & W in a long time and our first visit was to the new restaurant located along the Trans Canada Highway at Whitbourne, NL, approximately an hour's drive from St. John's. It was a wonderful experience and very different from our experience last evening, September 11 at the original A & W (the first one in Newfoundland) located on Kenmount Road, St. John's. We ordered two papa meals and paid extra for lettuce and tomatoes only to find that our burgers never had these items on the burgers and the attendee argued that we did not order this even though our bill clearly showed this to be the case. We sat inside to eat our meal and we were served it as it was a take-out meal with no basket for our fries (part of the experience we enjoy) and no glass mugs for our root beer and our burgers were cold. I do not recommend this location for a satisfactory dining experience. We won't be going back to this particular location anytime soon.
Went into A&W Kenmount Rd this evening & it was the worst we ever had, Our meal was like it was cooked the day before , Onion rings & chicken fingers were like they had been cooked 3 or 4 times . the burger was dried out we threw out the fries . We should of known better when we pulled into the parking lot & there was no customers there at a busy time in the day . On our way out my husband told the girl that served us our meal wasn't good & all she did was smile , or we think she smiled . Not what I had expected at all . No more meals there for us . Sorry we won't be supporting this A&W again .

The moma and papa burgers were great as usual. The root beer was only filled 3/4 full and the fries were not as crisp and hot as was expected..I understand that the virus has changed how everything works but this experience wasn't up to what we expected
