Great food, staff, and atmosphere. We love Backstreet Grill!

This place is supposed to be closed. And for good reason. Also the food isn’t that good and it’s over priced for what it is. Rude service.

The restaurant was practically empty, but still waitstaff did not acknowledge us. After 15 minutes we got up and just left. They didn’t care. My impression is that the good reviews are fake. There are many good choices for food in the area, this isn’t one of them. On top of that, the owner has a blatant disregard for health practices. So, all in all they appear to disregard the needs of customers.

This restaurant does not use Covid safe practices and actually does not have a current health permit. Yesterday, a judge ordered them to cease operations. I’m betting they don’t.

This restaurant has always had a reputation for surly service in the Duke City, and it offers a Disneyfied version of "southwestern food." (We ought to know; we're here in the southwest.) Its saving grace was its good selection of local beers on tap. There are much, much better places in Old Town -- Seasons Grill and Antiquity, or for New Mexican cuisine, even Duran's Central Pharmacy or La Hacienda. Today KOB-News reported that this the Backstreet Grill has been operating without a restaurant license for months on end, which is unsurprising. Moreover, the staff refuses to mask up or follow other Covid protocols from the state. When called out on this behavior, the owner -- who is apparently unfamiliar with the maxim "the customer is always right" -- belittles his customers and reacts in an aggressive, antagonistic way. This is not who we are in Albuquerque.

Discovered Backstreet Grill on YELP as we were passing through town on our way to Tucson to take our kids back to The University of Arizona. It's in the Old Town area and was close to our hotel. Fellow Yelpers had posted some great pics of tacos and margaritas, who could ask for more after a 10 hour drive?! Called last minute for a reservation for 8 people at 7:30pm and Olivia couldn't have been more accommodating! The blood orange jalapeño margarita was the bomb (Tip- it'd be even more delicious if it were rimmed with a Tajin instead of plain salt.) Others in the party felt the regular margarita was too lime forward and on the weak side. My husband got to try agave wine for the first time, yum and unique. My son had the Prickly Pear margarita and loved it! I ordered the Smoked Pork Gouda Blue Corn Enchilada and got the clean plate award! Ordered Chips with Salsa (which was off the chain delicious, finishing sneakily hot at the back of your throat...what was that?! YUM!!) Also ordered Guacamole (this was our only disappointment. We were so looking forward to freshly made guac and this was not or at least it didn't look or taste fresh.) We were told there was only outdoor seating available, but rain just kept a comin', and upon our arrival, Olivia had made sure to have a table ready for us inside. The ambiance is nice with all the large vintage black and white framed photos showing the rich history. Thanks for entertaining us and your hospitality.

Amazing food and even better service. We love coming here we always feel so comfortable. The staff is so welcoming and accommodating. We particularly love the pizza and Tacos however, we are never disappointed when trying something new on the menu. Sina was an amazing waitress, definitely recommend coming here!

3 and 1/2 stars. Food was not bad for a touristy spot. Waitress tried hard but the place seemed somewhat understaffed. Nachos came out without the pork described on the menu and then took a while to get the mistake rectified. The fact that it made it to the table without all its ingredients tells you that the servers were too busy to catch the mistake. Probably won't be going there again.

Every time I go, the dining area is not available and I end up sitting outside. Not a fan of eating and drinking in the hot summer weather. That being stated. Great food and good drinks are available.

Best fish tacos ever! Nice patio dining. The food we had was wonderful. Staff was friendly, but as with most places, short- handed, so service was a little slow. But overall a great experience.

Lovely patio, sadly they were short on staff. Bathrooms needed attention, but the food was outstanding, especially the fried fish tacos. Our server was Zelica, superb job. We'll try this place again when they are fully staffed.

The atmosphere was perfect for what we wanting tonight. The service was a little slow for not being busy. Our server was polite but not very attentive. The food was good. Would I go back...yes I would.

So disappointing to meet the server that has the bad reputation with her customers. She did a racism and antic clown face when we got into the room and said hi to her. What is more hilarious is that she even dare not to do it face to face but can only do it when I turned back to her. After that, when we were already sat and waiting for her menu, she just go straight away and serve the two ladies just came to the front door and totally ignored us. Therefore, If you don’t want the racism bothers your happy memory in NM, please take a second thought to go into this restaurant.
