Really wanted to love this place since we’ve been pescatarian since January but it was just OK. We went on Sunday for breakfast. At a bit after 9:00 there was a person wearing headphones setting up the outdoor tables. We went inside and looked at the menu while standing at the counter.Turns out the headphone-wearing person was also the one who would take our order. She asked if we were dining in. We said yes. She said there were outdoor tables but the inside tables weren’t ready. We said we’d wait for one of the 3 or 4 inside tables because they just needed to take the chairs down and wipe them off. She didn’t make haste to ready the table.I had the blue corn waffle (I love the blue corn waffles across the street at the IPCC’s restaurant). This waffle was much denser than I expected — it was difficult to cut with a fork. The flavor was good.My wife had the avocado toast. She said the bread was very tasty.A little better hospitality would help a lot. The prices run on the high side. We’re OK with that and pay that frequently when we go out. It’s usually accompanied by friendly attentive service though.We’ll try again. Hoping that this is just a new venture working out the kinks of starting up.

Amazing food! We are here visiting from out of town and had to check this place out. Definitely try the Ital NDN taco and the Bluecorn Amaranth waffles. If we werent leaving tomorrow morning, we would definitely come back for seconds.

My wife and I enjoyed our lunch here. It is a cozy restaurant with about 5-6 tables but they do have an outdoor area which will help as it gets warmer. I had the Feast bowl and a smoothie. The bowl was very good though not a huge portion and I was hungry a few hours later. My wife had the fry bread. Overall a nice experience.

It’s always fun to find a new (to me, anyway) place serving a plant-based menu. I know. It’s not for everyone. But for those who crave this style of food, it is a godsend. And Itality is just that.Located just off NW 12th, Itality is Native American-owned, which automatically causes me to give even higher praise. I am a supporter. There’s a great story in Edible New Mexico that tells Tina Archuleta’s story, and how she wound up creating plant-based food for a diverse audience. Google it.Tina, who hails from the Jemez Pueblo, had this to say: “Plant foods are Native foods. Plants are our oldest ally. Plants are our relatives and they’re here for us. My food is not going to hurt anyone.”And so she set out a couple of years ago to create a table at which all could dine, and in a way that honors the traditions of her lineage. To that end, she has hit a home run.I made the mistake of coming late for lunch one day on a recent business trip to ABQ, and arrived about 1pm. This put me after a mad lunch rush, and thus they had to to start over cooking the many menu items. Under some circumstances, I might have been annoyed. But not this time. It was well worth the wait.I went with the Ital-NDN (say it slowly), which is basically a pueblo taco with red Chile beans, avocado, romaine lettuce, tomato, onions, and their pumpkin chi sauce.OMG, this was absolutely amazing! If there is one thing I love about ABQ it is the diversity of dinging experiences. Itality just catapulted to the top of my list for repeat visits. This taco was beyond reproach, and even though I had to wait 30 minutes for the kitchen to catch up, it was all good.If you’re not vegan, don’t write this off. And if you are, what’s keeping you? This is an amazing place to be in the moment, whether you dine indoors or out. Dining is a spiritual experience here, and I will be back.Vegetarian options: If you are plant-based, you will love this place!
