Last night we dined at Ruth Chris Steak House in Albuquerque. We had made a reservation for 7:00PM two weeks prior and confirmed this reservation a day or so prior as well. The reservation specifically asked if you want to reserve a table in the restaurant or bar. We chose restaurant because this was a very special dinner where my husband and I were taking a key employee of his company and her husband to dinner to thank them for their 15 years of loyalty and work. A special night. We arrived 40 minutes early and checked in with the with Hostess group. We said no problem we are early we can grab a drink in the bar until our reservation time. We did. At about 7:00PM I had to walk up and ask the Hostess group if we could be seated now. Not a big issue but foreboding. A minute later the Hostess comes to our group with menus and tells us our table is ready and its 10 steps from our bar location. In the bar. I stated we have a restaurant reservation and the hostess simply said sorry this is your table unless you want to wait another 30 minutes for a restaurant table. I pushed back and asked why then have a reservation if my table is a spillover spot in the bar. No good answer. In order to not ruin our evening and fight further with this unconcerned person we took the seat in a busy bar. Not an optimum location for a special night that was pre-planned properly and for which they confirmed our main dining location. Very limited customer service ability from this Hostess group. We spent nearly $1K on bar and dinner tab and were treated as less desirables or a group that just walked in off the street. Very disappointed with RC Albuquerque. We won't go back. Horrible service and experience at one of our town's most expensive restaurants. Upon reading reviews this morning I can see that customer service with the Hostess group is an ongoing issue. I should have read reviews prior and not after last night's experience. But untrained and uncaring young hostesses making poor decisions is not a way to run one's business. Shame on RC.

Best steakhouse in town. The experience in itself is worth it. We ordered the tomahawk and it was fantastic. The waiter cut it up for us and explained each cut and how it tastes differently. Just overall a solid experience. Something out of a movie. Very cool! Would go back!Edit 4/6/24- we went back and surprisingly the food and level of service wasn’t as good as the first round. We had reservations at 630 but were sat at the bar tables instead of the upper floor. The waitress seemed confused, perhaps because of how loud it is in there. Missed parts of our order and drinks, not focused. One of our plates was dirty leaving heavy marks of something black on the table cloth. The lady that packaged our left overs was nice. I really think this could be a perfect dining experience but the bar just ruins the dining. It is SO LOUD. This place is starting to become a sports bar. The ambience has changed significantly. When I think of fine dining I think of a piano lightly playing in the background while sipping on an old fashioned or glass of wine-enjoying my meal conversing with my wife. NOT blaring highlights of sports and people screaming at each other. The last is the plates are so small. Not sure how you’re supposed to add food from shareable sides to a plate that barely fits a steak on it. Parking is extremely tight.
