Superb dining experience without a sense of feeling too highbrow. Hard to find a place like this in or around Abq.

Dropped in for Saint Paddy's Day brunch! The menu was varied, but we went for the corned beef hash. We added bacon and roasted potatoes, which were not required bc the servings were plentiful! The finish was key lime pie and Bailey's cheesecake. Both were wonderful!Service was on point, even though the restaurant was working at capacity.Coffee was luke warm, both the initial cup and the refill. I asked for a fresh cup for dessert and it was piping hot!We will be coming back again!

My husband and I went here for dinner. Everything we had was delicious. We got the Red chili shrimp over a polenta cake and the savory truffle pancakes appetizer. Both were delicious. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and my husband order the braised bison ribs. Both plates were delicious. The plating for all dishes was beautiful. You can definitely tell the chef really thinks about the combination of flavors and the visual appeal of the dishes. For dessert we got the Tres Leches and chocolate torte. It was the perfect ending to a perfect experience. The menu changes seasonal. We will definitely go back!!

We eat out routinely and I've never given an upscale restaurant a poor review before this. We both were excited to order the shrimp grits which we've eaten all across the country. Now, I know there are scores of excellent ways to prepare this dish. This was not one of them. The grits were a bit too stiff, not a deal killer but not great either. The chili on top was far too hot to compliment the dish but, the real disappointment were the shrimp. Shrimp are pretty much the highlight of the dish and these were so far overcooked as to be hard and tough with little to offer the experience. The service and atmosphere were extraordinary but, the meal was very disappointing.

My wife and I dined at Forty Nine Forty on a Saturday evening. My wife ordered the pan-seared polenta cakes with a mushroom tomato sauce entrée and I the Wagyu tri-tip with spiral potatoes and a chive mojo drizzled on the beef. The beef came seared on the outside and rare on the inside, cooked perfectly. Sides easily were enough for two, so we split an order of crispy Brussel sprouts with an apple vinaigrette that included small apples pieces in it. Following our entrées, we split a charred Caesar salad with homemade croutons and aged Parmesan that was, along with everything else, quite delicious. With dinner we had a bottle of a Portuguese red that was very good. We finished the meal with a piece of “burnt Basque cheesecake,” light and very flavorful, which had a caramelized top (thus the “burnt”). Our server was excellent. Our meal was well-paced and most enjoyable. Forty Nine Forty has a limited but very good wine list, as well as a full bar. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere though we did find it a little loud. The restaurant has only limited seating, so reservations are recommended.

The food was amazing but the service could have been better. It was our first time here and we entered through the wrong door. Easy mistake to make as they share space with a bakery & the correct entrance is through the bakery that looks like it's closed for the day. So we walk straight into the dining room (4 of us) & stand there awkwardly waiting to be acknowledged. Servers keep passing by but nothing, now I'm thinking we must be invisible. I finally ask the nearest server if we are in the wrong place & he directs us to the hostess stand in the bakery portion & says people make that mistake all the time which makes me wonder why then one of the few walking past could not have been kind & showed us where to go. Our table ended up being in the bakery part which was fine, I had made the reservation only 30 minutes prior & we actually enjoyed the quietness of the space. But our server at times came off short & pretentious. When asked if we were interested in dessert & I replied we would take a look at the menu he preceded to ramble off the options but my husband wasn't even at the table, he had gone to the restroom. I feel like if they want to be taken seriously as a fine dining establishment (that seats you in a closed bakery) then staff could use more training. Also, they charge $20 per person if you cancel your reservation less than 24hrs prior which probably means we won't be back. That's just greedy.

Took the wife on a dinner date, everything from the staff to the food was fantastic. The portions were just the right size and kudos to the bartender for making a great mocktail for the Mrs. and a manhattan for myself! Would recommend to everyone

First time we sat at the bar, and the bartenders were great. They suggested the Mezcal and fresh strawberry with mint combination that was very very good. I had a salad and their cornbread, which I always love and that serves as a dessert really as well as bread. Other half had the Chilean Seabass, which they do very well, we always go back to this place. It's an addition to Corrales that has been welcomed by all.

This is an expensive restaurant and it delivers value. Our party of 4 enjoyed each of our dishes including the short rib, Sea Bass and Chicken. Kyle, our server, was informative, fun and helpful. Cocktails were also superb. For any special occasion I would highly recommend Forty Nine Forty.

Recently my wife and I were in Albuquerque for a conference. I spent a good about of time researching a dinner spot as we were both unfamiliar with the dining scene here. Fortunately we ended up finding Forty Nine Forty. This was a welcomed 30 min drive from downtown (where we didn't want to be). We found a delightful little restaurant that offered a great variety of offerings. The sea bass, flown in fresh daily was vigorously enjoyed by my wife. And the Tri-tip was favorably presented, cooked and cut correctly. The burrata appetizer was very tasty and the bartender made thoughtful cocktails with panache. Overall, it was a very enjoyable evening.

Corrales has themselves a new gem There are not a lot of restaurants I will cross the Rio Grande in rush hour traffic for - but I'll sit in 45 min of bumper to bumper traffic for this dining experience any day of the week. A small, limited number of tables makes a very intimate experience. You can see the kitchen and bar from any table. Low light fine dining ambiance with friendly staff. The drinks were lovely. We had the lemon and espresso martinis as well as the Italian margarita special for the night 10/10 no notes The food was delightful. The cauliflower soup was absolute perfection. Sometimes simple really is best. Spotlight shout out to the flan. Everyone makes it so differently I'm always hesitant to order it... I've never been so thrilled. This is exactly how I want flan to taste! We'll obviously be back!

I I regret to say that if a restaurant sets itself up with a certain level of exclusivity, I expect nothing short of perfection. Sadly, my experience fell drastically short of this bar. Despite my parents having an enjoyable dinner previously, which encouraged them to book brunch despite a steep $20 cancellation fee per person, the experience was disappointing from the start. They had specifically requested seating within the restaurant itself, only to be informed on the day that our reservation was mistakenly set for the Market area. This led to a heated exchange and, although our original request was eventually honored, it was clear that the mix-up had soured the staff's demeanor towards us. The food, unfortunately, did nothing to salvage the situation. In comparison, Nexus Brewery offers a far more satisfying chicken and waffles experience at half the price. The decision to make the market area large and not more actual restaurant area seems a misstep, impacting the dining experience and leading to questionable business practices, like the unnecessary cancellation fee. Ultimately, I see no reason to return. Thank you, but I'll pass.

As a long time Corrales residents we wanted to support a Village business. We attended the grand opening, when it was to be pastries and various food items. The welcome from the proprietor's was less than warm, actually we were ignored. Today, against out better judgement, we went in for brunch. Much to our surprise it was very much a different experience. Slade was very welcoming and professional. While the menu is a bit overpriced, we will be returning thanks to the professional staff.

Celebrated my wife's birthday and was looking for a high end gourmet dining experience. 4940 certainly fit the bill. Our waiter, Kyle, explained all the menu and cocktails. My wife had the limoncello creamy martini - so good she had two. We started off with the smoked duck and charred caesar salad. Both excellent. For our mains we had the wagyu tri-tip and bison short ribs in a mole sauce. Both were delicious (I felt my mole was the best I've had in decades). We shared a side of the cheesy grits with green chile. I'm not a big fan of grits, but these were amazing. We finished off the evening with coffee and their Basque burnt cheesecake and tres leche cake. I'm picky when it comes to cheesecake and this was the bomb. Kyle was attentive all evening. Yes it is pricey, but we both agreed worth every tasty bite. We will be back as their seasonal menu changes.

Terrible. Waited a long time to return. It's only gotten worse. Cheap food you are charged a fortune for. Dishes do not even adhere to description. Good wine. Nice staff. Save your money. ( i think they took down my previous review so please just trust me ( or don't at your own risk)
