When I lived in El Rito I would eat here all the time, but since I moved I have not been able to find better green chili. I love being able to go back home and enjoy the most amazing food! Thank you Dominic for being the amazing chef you are!!

El farolito was recommended to us by a friend who knew we were exploring the area. It's supposed to open around 1:30 but was around 2:30 when they finally opened the doors. We wouldn't have normally waited but there aren't other options in the area and we weren't in a hurry. We ordered the Chile rellenos and number 4 combo, both Christmas style. The plates consist of deep takeout dishes which wasn't a problem for us. The disappointment came when opening the containers to find our food was drowned in so much sauce and cheese that it was hard to make out what we were eating. I can see someone eating this high on weed or getting over a hangover but it's definitely not worth the drive out.

The number 2: I ordered chicken taco, ground beef and cheese enchiladas with Red & Green chile sauce. It was the best I’ve had in Northern New Mexico and I’ve lived in Taos for 13 years!
Unique dining experience in El Rito, NM. Worth the journey.

El Farolito was recommended by our Air BNB host in Abiqui, NM. Very small town and restaurant but run don’t walk to go and experience this amazing New Mexico Mexican food! As good, probably better than any TexMex we’ve had in Texas and that is a serious high rating! Only 6 or 7 tables, but the owners are so kind and the food was simply amazing!!

Stopped by this little hole in the wall for lunch. Had the Taco dinner plate and it was excellent. If you're ever in El Rito you need to visit.

Ate here 20 years ago, loved it. Looked them up again because my friends will be in the region and I wanted to see if they are still recommended. Yep- the reviews all matched my great experience. Simple place with great food in a sweet local village.

We recently were traveling in northern NM on our way to Ojo Caliente and detoured to El Farolito on the recommendation of an acquaintance. It is definitely a destination place since it really is off the beaten path. The tiny town of El Rito really doesn't have much of anything unless you are one of the few locals. We almost missed the place driving through and realized and turned around. Overall I was most impressed with the salsa and chips, as other reviewers note it is home made and outstanding. We also order guacamole, tacos and a cheese enchilada. They were mediocre and served in takeout boxes even though we were dining in. The enchilada was in the bottom of a container of chile making it messy to eat. If you're in the area and need a snack, maybe give them a try. A family run place with a very rural village feel.

Love this place and the family who own it! Extremely friendly and kind. And I'm not saying just because I'm local. A definite must!

I first ate here in 2018 while working down the street at the El Rito Ranger District. It set my personal bar for top-notch New Mexican dining.New Mexican chile is invariably good to great. Many restaurants stop there, knowing full well that the taste will be a unique one and that the rest of the ingredients can be good enough. Not so here, where all the components of the dish are treated with care and attention.NB: Opening time might not be on the dot, and payment is CASH ONLY. Come prepared for both and trust me, it will be worth that minimal effortVegetarian options: The green is pork based, the red is vegetarian.Parking: Park along the street!

Excellent little restaurant with the best combo plate anywhere. El Farolito is a must stop and have, El Farolito, only in El Rito!!
