Ordered the New Mexican grilled cheese and the signature cold brew both of these were 10/10 My only complaint is that it took a long time to get the grilled cheese. I overheard one of the girls saying "you forgot her sandwich". Both girls behind the counter were very slow to make orders. Before you knew it there were 3-4 people still waiting on orders. They really had no sense of urgency.

I don't like leaving negative reviews but we just visited Coal Brew this past weekend in their new location. My husband and I had never ordered from this place and were excited to see a business expanding in this difficult season of life. We walked in and it was very eye pleasing. Staff was pleasant and we were just happy to be out enjoying our weekend. We were reviewing the menu and allowing other patrons to order behind us because we didn't know what to get! lol here's the problem: we are an older couple and my husband just wanted a regular cup of hot brewed coffee. He ordered a "Large coffee with cream and sugar" which on the menu showed the price of less than $3.00. Well fast forward we pay and get our receipt and it shows that he ordered a "Plain jane" in the cold latte section of the menu and it was $9. he went up to the girls and asked them if he was getting a hot cup of coffee and wanted to know why there was such a huge price difference. He was told very politely that the the regular coffee was only 20 oz and since he asked for a large they bumped it up to the plain jane. He then asked "so I am paying $6 more dollars for 12 more oz of coffee? I would have been content with the 20 oz." We get the Plain jane and it tasted like lukewarm watered down creamer. My husband goes back up to the front and tells them that he would rather have his money back then pay $9 for something that he didn't want. The girls stated that she would have to call the owner because they don't have the authority to refund...which was fine. We told her no rush since we were eating there anyway. The owner shows up, irritated and specifically told my husband "what's the problem???!? I was busy with my livestock (or whatever it was that she was doing at home). she proceeded to say that my husband was very rude and that her employees were intimidated by him. NEVER did we feel that towards her employees-as a matter of fact, one of the employees came over to our table and once again apologized before the owner arrived and we had a nice conversation with her. The owner shoved the money at my husband and needless to say we were very uncomfortable. We quickly finished our sandwich and left and will NEVER return. Had the owner never shown up, we would have chalked this up as a bad experience but would have known that a plain jane is not what my husband would ever order and order something else. But Because of the owner's attitude and us feeling like we bothered her to come down to her "own business" to tend to something that she could easily give authority to a manager but doesn't, I have decided to write the review. NO ONE should ever be treated so rudely. In such a small town like Hobbs, we don't have very many options, especially for older couples and now we can chalk this one up to a "Never again" and not because of the employees or the food but because of an owner that can't simply be polite and manage her time/businesses better.

I ordered a coal brew and a cappuccino and had to wait 30 minutes. Thats a bit longer than I would like to wait for two drinks. The coal brew was delicious but make sure you budget enough time.

Extremely let down by the coffee experience. Don’t expect to receive a more authentic and craft brew than Starbucks. All coffee was ground and brewed by a $400 Merol home automatic espresso machine. Regular hot coffee comes in one size only, costs $6, took 5 min to make and 5 min later was basically room temp. Cant believe they charged 2x the price of Starbucks. Also didn’t know how to make a Cortado. “Brew” company makes you think it’s baristas using professional grinders and espresso machines when it’s just an employee pushing buttons on a cheap home automatic machine.
