Yesterday spent a nice day in the Jemez. Hiking a lot of nice trails weather was beautiful. Spent a good part of the day hiking. So on the way back home decided to stop for a bite to eat. As I usually do I stopped at Los Ojos when I'm in the Jemez, they always have good food and pretty good service. I was with a friend and we both had our dogs. As this is a pet friendly place, which I very much like we sat outside but, they said we could sit inside if we wanted which I also like. There was 4 tables that were occupied, and the waitress who was taking care of those tables didn't seem to have things together. We waited awhile before being greeted, given menus, never given any silverware or asked what we wanted to drink and take our order. Her attitude was not very pleasant either. When our food arrived, she never checked in on how everything was or if we wanted refills on our drinks. Then when it came to the check I asked her to split and separate the checks she split the amount in half between the full amount and put it on both checks. Food is was good as I got the mushroom burger with sautéed onions and fries.

Food is absolutely wonderful just don't be in a hurry. We were there for an early lunch - not too crowded at all although by the time we left it was filling up but tables still available. Took 35 minutes to get our food after ordering so kitchen was slow. Waitress was non- existent: never checked on us for drink refills, the table next to us never got their 'another round of marg's for the table, please' so they hunted her down for the bill and just left; a third table had to go get their own extra gravy request, etc. Everyone was being pretty patient but had to try to (loudly) flag her down as it was obvious to all that she was really good at 'not hearing' anyone that needed her. Other than the slow kitchen and a 'barely there' waitress, the food really was very good, so it's still worth taking your chances -

This historic building was constructed in about 1912 by a Lebanese immigrant named Moses Abousleman. Originally a mercantile store, the building was repurposed in 1947 and became the Los Ojos Restaurant and Saloon. The restaurant has become the center of the Jemez Springs community, and caters to local residents, vacation home owners, bikers, hot springs tourists, and snowbirds. The main bar section is an eclectic mix of local animal trophies, Western attire and tack, old rifles, advertisements, old lanterns, etc.The restaurant and saloon offers a good mix of local and regional tap beers, cocktails, and even offers a package service. The menu includes a fine assortment of Northern New Mexico entrees. The chili relleno choices were quite excellent and the deep fried mushrooms were red hot and tasty!

I love this place. It’s true New Mexico. You can feel the richness of its history. Great service and the tomato soup and the warmth of the huge fireplace was perfect on a cold afternoon in March.

I love this place. Monique (owner) is stellar and has kept the feeling of community alive. Every food item I’ve ordered has been lovely, and they have a decent selection of drinks. Definitely a prized staple of Jemez!

Delicious! Our family ate here while on vacation. Every entree was great. The chicken fried steak is outstanding! The place looks like an Old West saloon, with a huge fireplace which was wonderful on a cold night. Thanks for a great meal and vacation memories.

Churro ice cream sundae was amazing. They have red and green vegan chili options, which is great.

Places like this are rare. This place screams American West ambience. Wonderful service, good food and cocktails, a fire blazing in the hearth and a squad of locals set up at the bar for another round or three.

Terrible service. Went here a year ago and again a month ago, both times it was on a weekday around 4pm. Had the same awful waitress both times (short hispanic girl) -- can't believe she still has a job there. Both times, she seemed to be in a bad mood, forgot parts of our orders, did not check on us at all when our drinks were empty, etc. Generally displayed a flippant attitude and did not pay attention to anything. I ordered a beer and it didn't come for 15 minutes. I finally flagged her down and asked "Is my beer coming?" and she said "Oops I forgot". Very unprofessional. She didn't even comp my beer or offer any apology. It's amazing that she hasn't been fired, maybe she's related to the owners. I do not recommend this place at all. On top of the bad service, the food is mediocre.

It was a cold day. We got there right around opening at 11 am. We took the table in front of the fireplace. It was warm and cozy. The bathrooms were chilly and ice water came out of the faucets. My wife ordered a cheeseburger with bacon. I had a patty melt. Those burgers had a nice crust and were excellent. The fries were crispy. I HAD to try the churros with ice cream. It was tasty! They have WiFi. My wife has an android phone and could get on. I have an Apple phone and couldn't. There was no cell service. Overall it was a pleasant experience!
