Spanish Kitchen is a tradition in Las Cruces - it was here 40 years ago when I was a student at NMSU. It was ok food then, not now. Really not now. Sad.

A nice place. Really enjoyed the green enchiladas. They had a great flavor, and the beans n rice were a great compliment . The service was fantastic, and the server was beyond helpful. She had great recommendations and was joy. Spanish music in the background was the perfect touch. Great place to visit in Las Cruces!!

The server was very nice, the food was not, there is no atmosphere. It's like you walked into a restaurant that was closed. Somebody opened it and threw some tables in there. It looks very unfinished. The enchilada was tough, skimpy and had very little cheese in it. The tamale was obviously out of a can. The taco was so tough, you could hardly bite it. The chili relleno was tiny, naked and I'm not sure there was really anything in it. The green salsa was delicious, but the chips were so thick and so hard. You couldn't hardly chew them. I really was disappointed because I wanted to eat here for so long but after I did and after I talked to friends, they told me they stopped eating there years ago. Also, the prices are really high especially for what you get, the plate looks big, it's not, it's tiny.

After 70 years they've got the business down pat. The dining area is spacious, and you aren't bumping into other tables or customers. The food is very good, with adequate portions and very affordable prices. The service was good, although they could probably have used an extra server when I was there. She was really running. As with most Mexican restaurants, you get a basket of chips and salsa. The salsa was a thinner one than I'm used to - no chunks of tomato or chile - and it was a bit on the spicy side. If you aren't used to spicy, get an extra glass of water. The atmosphere and decor was appropriate and clean. The music was a little odd - they were playing anything from 1960's rock to traditional Mexican to 1950's country. Not that there's anything wrong with any of that. The location was convenient, right off exit 6 on I25. You could do worse than stopping here for lunch.

The food here is very good. I like that there is no corporate feel. The food tastes fresh and more like home cooking. The food is more made to order. Doesn't taste like frozen food out of the freezer. The staff is all very nice. The chips and salsa are good. I love that animals are NOT allowed in the restaurant, certified service animals only!! They make sure electronic devices are at a reasonable volume. I hate going to a restaurant and every kid has a tablet on full volume, so annoying. They also ask for electronic devices to have sound turned down so other customers are disturbed. It's great ?
