I ordered their delicious burger while sitting at the bar last night. After a longer-than-expected wait for my food to arrive the Assistant Manager Alex Saiz came out and personally explained that there had been a "glitch" in the kitchen's ordering system and they were not receiving the order tickets. He apologized and explained that the glitch was fixed and that my food would be out shortly. He offer to bring bread and butter while I waited and asked if there was anything more I needed.Ok. . . glitches, mistakes, mishaps, et.al. happen. I've always felt that it's how you RECOVER from these glitches that speak to one's professionalism. ALEX SAIZ, THANK YOU for being so professional. You immediately defused what many times is a bad experience for a diner and turned this encounter into one that made me smile. Congratulations! Rio Chama on having Alex on your team.

I recommend Rio Chama for its calm quiet and private ambiance, even if sitting near another table. The food is very good. The service is quiet, discrete and very good. It's easy to have a conversation.

Steaks, elk, and pork chop overly charred/burnt. Steak served rare instead of medium rare. Pork chop very small. A little tough Wait staff slow, irritable, got order incorrect a couple of times and was irritated to have to take things back. Didn't box up leftovers. Just not the gracious experience or expertise expected for the price.

At this four person business dinner I was very pleased with the initial greeting and quick service to our table. Our guest seem to be very happy with the selection of the restaurant. I was surprised how infrequent our waiter came to the table. The food was not as good as we expected. The two people who ordered the salads were pretty happy. They did give our vegetarian guest chicken, and the steaks seem to taste as if they had freezer burn. It's a beautiful restaurant but I won't be coming back .

High end, southwestern atmosphere serving superb starters and steaks. The green chile croquettes and boar bacon starters delighted the palate. The elk loin entree was impeccable. Service was on par with the food & atmosphere.

Are they under new management? …because the service was depressing, the chop salad with steak was not as good as it used to be and it’s starting to look really worn out in the bar! I used to talk it up to all my out of town friends but NO more.

Rio Chama is my favorite restaurant in Santa Fe. You can get high-quality steaks or a huge plate of nachos! There are cozy nooks for an intimate dinner, room at the bar to watch the game, or tables to share with a group. The staff provide excellent service and the drinks are heavy! There is an alcohol drink limit, but I found it appropriate for the setting.

Excellent service. Waiting staff were very attentive, friendly, and courteous. Not too overbearing; allowed us to enjoy our meal with few interruptions. Food was excellent, tasty, and nice temperature.

Food was excellent. Service was slow. Did not like the 4 drink Maximum?? Who does that??? And my wife and I split a meal and they added a split fee. Not high end enough for me to come back.

The food was great, but we were disappointed when we were refused dessert. The waiter brought the dessert menus but never returned to take our order. We waited for over 20 minutes for him to return. All we wanted was ice cream! When my friend asked the assistant manager to send our waiter over, he was told the kitchen closed at 9 pm and was unwilling to do anything to help us. When the waiter returned, he said the same thing. I asked why he brought the dessert menu and then failed to return to take our order. He said he assumed we didn't want anything or we would have asked him for it!!!!! He waited so long that the kitchen closed in the meantime. Unbelievable! How can they take an 8 pm reservation and expect diners to complete their meal in less than an hour?!?! I'm so done with the Santa Fe restaurants, who since Covid, close at 9 pm, but take late reservations and begin mopping and vacuuming the floors right at 9! These restaurants will not last long. What happened to good customer service, apologies, transparent business practices. The restaurant was empty and I can see why! We also will never return here.

Such a very unfortunate and shameful experience! This establishment has been nothing but an exceptional and prestigious experience bar none out of all of Santa Fe for so long...However today was such a shameful experience! The people who are running this bar and managing and even hosting this place are rude and mean and so flat out disrespectful I've never eaten in a place in Santa Fe with such disrespectful and rude people like this that was so not called for in any way from the host who lied to us telling us w e how to have a reservation to be sat in the bar area to being ignored by the bartender who had literally saw us and made eye contact with us for 12 minutes! Who literally did not offer a drink or even a menu. To the manager who literally did not even say hello and just asked us if we had a problem with services? At that point in time we decided to leave. You guys literally made us feel like we were so inferior and totally out of place when we were just trying to get a drink and what we were told was a nice dinner. We have heard so many bad and brutal things as well as the DWI murders involving Santa Fe dining that we were totally willing to give them a chance and not judge them. However the levels of service and great things we had heard of them made us when they come and visit! We didn't know we would be treated with the same type of experience nor did we have any type of intuition of this occurrence. But all we can say is shame on these people for having lived up to the very sad and very negative reviews and experiences from the past which we were so very happy to have looked over from those and given them the benefit of the doubt. NEVER COMING BACK YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES

Steaks are finely prepared here, but Rio Chama also serves a very well prepared Gourmet menu of other dishes. Combine with the classic ambience of of the legislators' retreat, and you have a relatively unique experience in Santa Fe of old-world elegance.
