Santa Fe is one of our favorite vacation destinations. The high desert climate is as different from our Chicago home as are the culture, the architecture, and the people. But recently while at home, I read an article in the Tasting Table magazine rating the country's best donuts. Number one on the list was the Blue Corn Blueberry Lavender Donut from Whoo's Donuts. Well, of course we had to try it on our next trip last summer (2023). It's a small and unassuming place in a typical strip mall, but who cares? We're here for the donut(s). The wife and I both dried the winner, and my brother and his wife bought some of the other varieties. The coffee was fresh, and excellent. Young cashier was friendly and knew why we were there! But you want to know, right? Well, the Blue Corn Blueberry Lavender Donut did NOT disappoint! It's absolutely the best true donut I've ever tasted in my 72 years, and that includes way, way back when I was a 12 year old newspaper boy who used to hit the local Bohemian Berwyn bakery with my co-newsies after our routes, usually around 6-6:30 am, when they were still hot! I'm leaving out the beignets at the Café du Monde in New Orlean's Jackson Square, as I don't consider them TRUE donuts, even though they're made the same way; also it's impossible to separate the product from the ambience of being in the most romantic setting in America. Don't miss Whoo's Donuts if you make it to Santa Fe. You'll thank me.

Got ours to go! Unassuming place, friendly service. So good! Creative and delicious donuts and good coffee. We tried four donuts: -Blue corn lavender. Our favorite! The blue corn donut is dense and flavorful and the icing was a good balance of tart and sweet. -Blue corn maple pecan. Very good! -Berry glazed. Lighter donut, berry icing. -Pistachio lemon. Tastes like it sounds, white flour base. Everything we tried was delicious. The blue corn are dense and filling - it would be hard to finish off more than one. Get a bunch to share with a group!

Really, really good donuts, albeit expensive! Treat yourself to the blue corn lavender, you won't regret it

OVERALL Quaint donut shop in Santa Fe, NM offering delicious, unique flavors and some indoor dining seats. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 5 | Service: 5 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 4 PARKING Minimal free parking in a shared plaza lot. LOCATION/AMBIANCE We stepped into Whoo's Donuts on February 17, 2024 to pick up a dozen to-go. The adobe-style building has a large window out front with its entrance just to the left. An owl is of course the mascot of their sign. This small place is close to two highly popular roads in the state's capital: Cerrillos Road and Saint Francis Drive. When we walked in, we immediately gravitated to the glass display of dwindling offerings because by that point it was about almost noon. THE GRUB My young daughters were dying to try all of the flavors. Since we were on a mini vacation, I opted for the "mixed dozen" for $31. All of their donuts are "fresh from scratch daily." I recommend warming them up which will take a bit longer than normal donuts as these are dense! Our favorites: + Berry round glazed (it's so good!) + Blue corn blueberry lavender (I would get this one again and again) + Blue corn maple pecan + Boston cream + Choco red chile bacon + Chocolate galaxy + Chocolate Long John My coffee fix was already cured by that time, however, they do offer a variety of coffees and espressos. Additionally, they sell breakfast burritos and kolaches. SERVICE Friendly & welcoming! MY FAVORITE PART... The blue corn blueberry lavender donut! NOT SO FAVORITE PART... The prices, but that's everything in Santa Fe.

Usually I LOVE these donuts and everything about them but went there the other morning 2 weeks ago on a Saturday to take someone that has never been there after telling them how great these donuts were the display was empty the girl there was not welcoming or friendly at all the donuts we were served the blue corn lavender were so crusty it was like they had been out for days I was very disappointed also the person took ordered an other type all were dry and nor good as usual at all!! And was very expensive for three terrible donuts normally I don't mind the price for the quality but this time was horrible all around

A joy to try out some inventive donuts here. Ordered the blue corn blueberry lavender, mixed berry filled, and a chile apple fritter. My personal favorite was the mixed berry filled. The chile apple fritter was really fun - some mild red pepper powder on top, and actual green chile in the middle area.I encourage the donutmaster to keep experimenting and bringing cool new ideas! ?

Love Whoo’s. Probably the best donut shop in Santa Fe. They always have something interesting to try, like the red chile chocolate donut with bacon crumbles I had today.

Wonderful fresh donuts! Their Blue Corn Blueberry Lavender donut is on the July 2023 Forbes list of the top 12 donuts. They didn't have this one when we stopped in, but I had the Dark Chocolate Crunch and it was delicious! I love the fresh crispy edge.

Love this place. Donuts are at once wholesome and delicious! Friendly owners and service. We stop at as many donut shops as we can as we travel by van throughout the southwest. This is our favorite and we always make it a point to stop here. Great coffee drinks too!!

My husband and I stopped in on while on vacation and we absolutely loved the place, probably some of the absolute best donuts I've ever eaten, will definitely stop in again next time we're in town

Some wild flavor options AND they're wildly delicious! White Choco lemon, blue corn blueberry lavender, blue corn maple pecan, flaky croissant donut, pumpkin cream filled, and dark choco chunk were the ones we got and THEY ALL SLAP! The cream is out of this world too. Fantastic service and plenty of seating to snack, and the coffee hits the spot. Check this place out!

We stopped by for a quick breakfast before a long drive last week and I’m so happy we did! The owner was so kind and asked what we were up to that day and suggested a better spot - THANK YOU. We couldn’t have been happier with the location you suggested! Donuts were delicious too!
