Yes I would say the staff are very friendly and helpful . The food is good and a very generous amount of food.

We only went because it was a friends birthday... Ordered the double del monico...im not 100% sure it was actually steak. Maybe a mix of shoe leather and liver? The only good thing was our server Emily. Attentive, on point and friendly. I dont recommend eating

My wife and I go there on Sundays. We love the fishcakes and their grilled hash browns. A great restaurant in its milieu. Not fancy, it is down to earth without pretensions.

Dollar store box potatoes and overcooked steak they couldn't even get right second time. Go to McDonald's instead you'll save money and wat better food

The waitress didn't listen to me telling her I had a gluten allergy and my food showed up with a roll on top of my steak, touching my potatoes. Too much gristle on the steak. Then she brought the wrong dessert !!!

Alright food, great staff, very friendly. Prices were alright but portions were kind of small for the price.

I love food and restaurants. I actually rate them for fun. I am new to Dartmouth and I have a long list of places I want to eat at.I was excited when we decided to go to Steak & Stein today. I have heard the food was fantastic. We get there around 11:30am and the place was not busy at all.Our waitress (I use that word loosely) came right over and asked what we wanted to drink. I said tea, my partner said Coke or Pepsi what ever you have. Then we said, we are ready to order to.She took out her pad and said ok. My partner order eggs benny. She was like ok a drink comes with that milk, juice, coffee, tea. My partner said ok Milk please and still my pop. I gave my order, big breakfast with the hashbrowns. She truned and said ok i will be right back with your drinks. I stopped her and said wait I would like to have my eggs over easy please. She said, oh right hopefully I can remember that and walked away. We both at this point was thinking she was not right at all. The way she was talking was really off.She comes back with a cup, no tea and nothing else. She walks by and said I am getting your coffee. I spoke up and said tea my partner said and my pop. She comes back with milk. We asked her if she was not hearing us or something. She walked away and poured out the milk and got a glass of orange juice ( which i am deadly allergic to )My partner said are you ok what is going on. She was like what do you mean. He just laughed and he got up and left. This was the short story there was more. I talked to the person in charge. The food might be good there but the service or lack of is really bad. So on the service only I give this place a 0 out of 10.

The food was disgusting and dry. The steak was overcooked .no satisfactory service was offered. The washroom was disgusting . This was our worst experience in over 30 years. And nothing more than a short apology offered. By the time we tried each item on our plates..it was half gone and couldn't take the food back by then. On top of that the smell of mold in the eating area was awful. This restaurant should be shut down.what a terrible place to eat.

Ordered a 5oz steak sandwich for take out & the steak wasn’t even edible. It was very tough & had a lot of fat. I highly recommend going elsewhere. Never a good experience.

I haven’t liked this restaurant for a long time and would not typically eat here. I only went twice in the past few months because someone else wanted to go there and I knew they enjoyed it. First time wasn’t so bad and I ordered the fish cakes and beans for brunch. Not amazing but not horrible. Then we shared some coconut cream pie and it was actually pretty good. Second time, I ordered the same thing and the fish cakes were loaded with dill, didn’t taste like fish at all, and had huge chunks of onion in them. My eggs were supposed to be soft poached and were over cooked. Overall, pretty bad and inconsistent. Upon arrival we were not acknowledged by the host and he kept talking to one of the other employees. Upon leaving we had to wait for another host to finish in the washroom and then when they finally returned to take payment they did not even say hi or excuse themselves for making us wait. I will say though, the servers are always very nice and she did deduct my order (that I didn’t eat) from the bill. One star for the servers and one star for the coconut cream pie.

Fast and friendly service. It unfortunately doesn’t make up for the inconsistency with the food. Sometimes the meal is very good and others it is very poor. The very good meals occur frequently enough that I do return. If you happen to get a meal that is off from the norm the staff are usually very good at taking care of you. I would add an extra star if they could nail down this consistency. Even when busy the staff seems to care a great deal and often go above and beyond.

Blooming onion was good l found the Seafood chowder very salty. Our server Anna was very prompt and curious.

Would not recommend steak and stein. Fish was very overcooked, the steak was almost all fat and small and the fries were cold. The only good thing was the potato skins. Will not be back. Waitress was very nice.

We were a group of 10. We were waited on by a young man that was new and he did excellent. Loved the staff, food was delicious.
