This restaurant doesn’t gave importance for decorations but the food!!! Their food was amazing and delicious. We ordered Braised Pork Shoulder. It was so good and melted in my mouth. Braised Beef Brisket was also tender. Both dishes were not easily and need longer time to cook. Anyhow, it is worth for waiting. We definitely will be back soon for exploring more menu.

This restaurant is pretty highly rated and I'm a big Chinese food fan. Last night we had friends over and ordered out from A Taste of the East. An appallingly poor meal that I was embarrassed to serve. The shrimp dish was mostly frozen peas and corn. The eggplant, mixed vegetables and Kung Pao chicken dishes were indistinguishable from each other both in appearance and flavour. Perhaps the chef was on holidays but worst Chinese food ever!

The food was authentic and flavourful but a bit oily for my liking. Despite that, we visited twice during our trip to Halifax and enjoyed the dishes that we tried. There were far more meat focused dishes than mixed or vegetarian options but it wasn’t too difficult to customize or make requests. Service was very friendly as well.

Had the mapo tofu takeout and it was exactly what I needed. The sauce was silky, the Szechuan peppercorn spice came through just strong enough. Delicious.
The dish "Sauteed Chicken with five nuts" is a very delicious dish. The service was a "5 Star Service".

Had the 2 lunch specials and one eggplant dish..Omg just horrible food, they used old rice and it was cold.The king poa chicken had very.little chicken and made with cucumbers.

Authentic North Eastern Chinese food. A big menu with various dish options and even daily lunch specials available. We have been here many times and they are very consistent with the taste of their dish. We got the zesty eggplant which is cooked in a lot of oil, but is so worth it with plain white rice. We also ordered the squid tentacle stir fry, which also comes in fried fish version, and the coating they have on the squid tentacles is very unique and is so addicting to eat along with the vegetables. Highly recommended if you want to try some North Eastern Chinese food that is made by Chinese chefs who are familiar with the cuisine.
