A no-frills Cafe a few meters from the cruise terminal.Great views of the bay and Georges island. The food is ok and fairly cheap. The counter service is good. This cafe seems to be the one servicing the office building so you get good value for the money. If you don't expect anything fancy you will like it.I came for breakfast at 9:45 on a Tuesday and the place was mostly empty.I got the omelette and I liked it, it came with a filtered coffee for 9 dollars.

You will not have a better club anywhere else downtown. The fact it’s $10 is a bonus. On a nice day, sit outside to watch the people of the ships.

Hidden gem for those going for a walk in the waterfront in the morning hours. Nice coffee and breakfast options with the view of George's Island. They were also able to customize my order with vegetarian options.

What a gem! I work near this cafe and I never thought of going there until today. It's a proper old-fashioned diner cafe where everything is cooked fresh to-order and the prices are great. The burger and fries in the pic was $7.99 + GST, wow! They have a full selection of hot and cold food, drinks and snacks. And what a view of the water too (see pics).

Great spot for a quick sandwich or home cooked meal. Limited daily menu, but lots of options from the grill and some sweets and coffee to boot. Wonderful counter service. Friendly and welcoming.

Legit spot. Pub style food, all day breakfast and a tasty Lebanese style stand. Clean and casual environment. Under 10 bucks for most meals.

Unassuming, amazing little place that feeds NS Power, farmers market, NS College of Art and Design, and cruise terminal workers. Great fresh made-to-order cafeteria style food - probably best breakfast sandwich in Halifax (just add Sriracha ) - you can get it without pork (turkey). Coffee has a wide selection carafe system, including. Prices super decent and people super friendly. While there is WiFi you'll only get 1 mb/s download which is fine for email but not much more- only downside but workable.Seating area super nice with probably local art (wish it had more info next to the painting) - note entrance is best from the back by the farmer's market. Probably a new fave hangout for work brekkie.

I had pretty low expectations for this place just strictly on its location and look. It's in the Nova Scotia power building so I thought it would be an average out of the freezer on the grill kinda lunch place. It far exceed my expectations. Falafel is homemade and amazing. So fresh and the sauced to go along with it were amazing. Club house sandwich is massive and amazing. Fish and chips are great. Their fries are some of the best I've ever had. Every meal is around $7-8. So worth it. Great place for sure.

Well off the radar in the south end, you can either get to Castello by going through the main entrance of the provincial Justice Department building across the street from the Westin, or in their back door at the other end of the building in what would be a shady alley if it were a more densely developed area. Like most office building spots, Castello is a straight up lunch place. There's several tables for civil servants to get away from their cubicles at, with a main counter that you line up at and choose your food with the aid of the menu on the back wall or the pile of food in trays before you. There's always a few different salads, rice and pasta dishes as well as mains that vary from day to day such as lasagna, roasted quarter chicken, fried fish and even salmon when I stopped by most recently. The one thing holding them back from 4-star territory is that they microwave anything that needs reheating, which doesn't do justice to nearly all foods. You can order various cooked-to-order breakfast foods and grill items like burgers however. A couple of my favourite things to order on my regular visits are the falafel and kibbe wraps. Warm and moist falafel or kibbe get broken up and put in what must be at least 12" wide pitas, absolutely stuffed with lettuce, tomato, pickles and banana peppers with as much tahini as you desire, which in my case is a pretty generous amount. Either one you get is going to be a winner, and I suggest that if you get one for lunch, have half now and the other half later in the afternoon or for dinner, otherwise you will be seriously full and risk falling asleep at your desk. The kibbe are also really good just as a platter, with rice and your choice of salad. Oh, and did I mention that this delicious gut buster will set you back a mere $8? Yup. Leave them the toonie, they deserve it. The family that runs this place is super friendly, and you'll be seriously challenged to spend more than $10 on the very decent food here, so pop down the alley for lunch.
