The server and owner were the best, food was amazing, had the surf and turf, cooked perfect, requested an oyster shot and the owner made it his mission to make it for us, great atmosphere! The chowder was to die for!

Wicked manager here. Talked to our table, found out we’re new in town and offered us a round on the house. Awesome night out.

We had to rush and our server and restaurant were very accommodating. Our food came out at record pace once we notified them that we had to catch rebooked flight. It was too bad we couldn’t enjoy the wonderfully prepared meal at a more reasonable pace, but we will return in the future if we’re in Halifax again.

Wow wow WOW! This place exceeded my expectations. I would put this in similar playing field as popular spots such as Drift or The Press Gang. Come for amazing meals and even better service! 12/10!!!! You are definitely doing something right If you choose this place for date night! :)

We went for dinner on a Thursday night and the place was hopping. We didn’t make reservations and they were able to seat us right away. Parking might be an issue since the location is downtown. Food and service were wonderful. Thanks for a fabulous “date night” experience.

I loved McKelvie’s!!!! They have THE BEST clam chowder in Halifax, also love that they use fish broth for the clam chowder where most places actually use chicken broth. The authentic taste of the chowder is unmatched! We got crab cakes as well, and (I’m not joking) I could eat those everyday. we also got the seafood shareable platter and it was 100% worth it. You get the variety of the east coast seafood. Service was so lovely, staff were friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere was also fun! Highly recommend!

We had great service as soon as we walked in the doors. We were greeted by a hostess and a server and were shown to our table right away. The seafood chowder that I had for an appetizer was on point. I decided to have the jambalaya for my main course. I don't know what I was expecting, but my entrée far surpassed my expectations. Finally, we capped our meal with a good-sized creme brulee. I was a little worried as my wife wanted to share the dessert.

Totally good food and worth it!! My hubby and I are from Georgia and foodies. We researched this restaurant before cruising to Halifax. So glad we did!!The muscles and bacon wrapped scallops were unbelievable!!! The fish and chips were authentic and the fish was melt in your mouth with a nice crisp coating. The wait staff were outstanding, friendly and professional.Wish we were back there to eat again.

'Just so you know ... chickens have veins.' It was our last night in Halifax and we were so excited for nice seafood. Our appetizers were underwhelming, good thing for salt and pepper. Time for main courses, two diners had 'roasted' chicken, which bled when cut into. Upon reporting this, we were met with a response 'oh, okay' and the plates were taken away. Several minutes later after watching a lengthy discussion in the kitchen we were informed that chicken have veins, we can cook it longer but it may come back the same way. We were also told the Chicken was steamed for 3 hours, then deep fried, so it was obviously cooked. Not sure how this is 'roasted' It felt argumentative and was unfortunate and nobody really wanted to finish their meals. The prices here were more than bicycle thief, which we ate at earlier that day and was OUTSTANDING. Save your money. Skip it. Anatomy lesson not required.

We ducked into McElvies pub around 2 on a rainy November Friday. We were so glad that we did. We ordered fish and chips and the lobster roll. Both came with sides and we chose the chowder. The lobster roll was delicious; in fact it was the best that I have had in Nova Scotia. The chowder was rich, full of seafood and delicious. My friend’s fish and chips were perfectly done and delicious. Our waitress was friendly and helpful as we made choices. I loved the Nova Scotia beer, Irish Red. The Maritime Museum is right across the street and that was our next stop.
