The smoked salmon and avocado benny was perfectly done and the cappuccino had a great medium roast flavour. Service was very good. A lot of character in this restaurant. I only wish it were open until later as it closes at 2pm.

Of the 2 years I’d lived in HFX, I’d estimate I spent about 14 months right here. That might be a slight exaggeration but Steve‘s was/is a bastion of good coffee, good food and great people, and I miss it a lot — even 15 years later!

The store is not big but I like the interior atmosphere. It has a cozy and rural feel hidden in the city.I ordered a latte and a muffin. The latte is my favorite bitter coffee. Even if it is a large cup, the milk will not overpower the taste. The muffin is a little salty, which I think is very special, and the outside is a little crispy. I think it tastes very good? The smile of the clerk started the day wonderfully, and there is also wifi in the store. It is a good choice for travelers who want to rest or stop over. ?

Quaint local coffee shop with the friendliest staff. Great food too! I'd recommend the green egg-o-reno on an everything bagel. Love the oat milk cortado too!

The coffee is ok but the service is not. Don’t bother ordering ahead if you’re busy - they won’t acknowledge your order until you are physically in front of them telling them you’ve ordered ahead. By the time my husband was acknowledged, the baked goods we had already paid for had been given to other customers. With so many other, better coffee options in the city we certainly won’t waste our time coming here.
This cafe is a staple of the city - if the library cafe (rip Pavia) is crowded or you need more serious food for breakfast or lunch, this is the place to go. Car parking is a nightmare so walk or bike down here - hopefully they'll get the permanent bike lane connection completed and then travel here will be a dream. Outdoor patio is usually the latest, so late summer days (sep-oct) this is one of the places to go. Note - hours are always wonky so have a plan B. They're also wrong by design - kitchen shuts down supppper early and THAT should be the closing time for the day. It's not. So expect an hour before closing to be told no more food is available.Food is sandwiches and wraps, really great (veggie options!) Baked goods, awesome smoothies (purple is a favourite).Vegetarian options: Some solid veggie and vegan options, but it's a breakfast location that caters to traditional fareParking: Much better for biking or walking to here since it's downtown. Fixed bike lanes nearby but they randomly stop right before and right after this block.Kid-friendliness: Youngest kids are ok outside, indoor there's lots to see but it's very compact and it's a coffee-culture crowd so is probably really boringWheelchair accessibility: Outdoor wheelchair ease of access, but you'll maybe need someone who can order - the main door is very narrow and I don't think it stays open well.

Great place for a quick breakfast, with well crafted dishes and nice creamy cappuccinos.
Had a great breakfast here on the last day of our vacation. It's a cute little cafe with a small patio as well. Food and drinks were really good! Slightly on the pricey side but everything was fresh and delicious so can't complain.

Our poached eggs tasted quite acidic - too much vinegar in the cooking water? The toast was burnt and the ham just wasn't good quality and cut way too thick. Also they were already out of avocado just after opening and we had to ask twice for our dessert. Overall breakfast wasn't bad but also not as good was we expected.
