“An absolute MUST STOP if you are road-tripping through Nevada! An amazing little gem of a historic mine-town bar and motel. It's about 4 blocks in from the main highway (closer to the mines, so miners didn't have to walk all the way to Main St for a drink). The street isn't paved, but it's very well maintained so any car can get there without issues. As of March 2024, they're open 2p to 9p. Don't let the sign fool you, the barkeep is an absolute sweetheart. Inside, find a beautiful antique bar, lots of original details, super friendly locals, cheap domestic beer nice and cold, and a wood stove, nice and warm.Out back are about half a dozen motel rooms that are nice, basic, clean, and well priced, arranged around a cool old mine headworks and a Joshua Tree. Excellent sunsets. Across the street is a rusting collection of steam engines, old Ford's, and other neat mining detritus. You might want to call the bar to reserve, they do sell out sometimes. This is an old-school place - you have to call, no apps, no website. Or just drop in the bar and they'll set you up.Note that there's not much open in Goldfield - there's no gas station or grocery store here. Also, the WiFi is not really usable, but I had 5G cell service that worked.”
