Want to feel like Bugsy Siegel in old Las Vegas? Hugo's Cellar is just the place to make that dream a reality. When you arrive, they give their female guests a long-stem rose as you are welcomed into the establishment. The ambiance is classic old-time Vegas and many of the staff have probably been there long enough that, to them, it's just Vegas. Salads are made table-side as are desserts like Cherries Jubilee and Bananas Foster. Steaks are well seasoned and cooked to order. I have seen some reviews that refer to the staff as a bit smug, aloof and off-putting. I think these guests are not used to being served by professionals who know their craft and are not going to make compromises in quality and service just because you might have a specific expectation. Go in there with the attitude that the chef and servers know how to provide the best experience and just let them do their thing. If you go in there with a Burger King "Have it Your Way" expectation you will be disappointed. I will be back the next time I'm in Vegas. Love this place!

This one hurts to write. We went to Hugo's based on rave reviews by a friend. From the gate you could feel the smug passive aggressive attitude by staff. The person busing the tables by far was the only person with a personality and a non annoyed look on their face.. They put an old fashioned in a Mai-Tai glass. That was the first red flag. We were baffled given the overall vibe is "fine dining" Our server had a cute personality for 30 seconds when she took our food order. No one checked on us other than the overly aggressive salad guy. I felt scared to speak. He was yelling at you but in a somewhat friendly way. But confusing as someone telling their partner "do whatever you think is right". It's a trap. 2 hours later still no food. We waved the white flag and requested to tab out. We were asked to wait 3 more minutes, took her 15 mins to come back after that. We offered to have it to go. But honestly, didn't even want it anymore. It was so absurd and clearly we were not really welcomed because we had tattoos and didn't look like a Merrill & Lynch staff member. There was no apology for the excessively long wait on a Sunday night. But just hoping we can sit longer for subpar service. Drab and dull atmosphere. The one star was for the person who cleared our table. He was the only person who seemed to be doing anything and actually treated us like humans and not an inconvenience. Not to mention we racked up a $400 tab and could of easily done more if anyone bothered to even acknowledge we had a pulse

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a meal at Hugo's Cellar for my anniversary and wanted to write about it. This location right in the heart of 4 Queens and is the epitome of old Vegas vibes. The space is dark, warm and inviting with a touch of charm. We were welcomed by the host with a rose for my lady (lovely touch) and escorted to our table. First I will talk about the pros... The service was superb. All staff and supporting staff were friendly, courteous and helpful regarding the menu options. We were big fans of the table side salad made in front of us and the lemon sorbet pallet cleanser that followed, all excellent! Our food arrived (Duck and NY Strip) and they were delicious, especially for the price. Do not get me wrong this is a pricier establishment but the value of the food with the cost was totally fair. They had a broad menu and I'm sure we will enjoy the food here again in the future! Now just a few of the cons... Regarding the duck, it was tasty do not get me wrong, but could have used a bit more cook time to give the skin a little more char and less chew. Perhaps this is personal preference but still something we noticed. Also a majority of the chairs are NOT designed to keep you there very long. It is very clear this is not a lounge and chairs were lacking in overall comfort and support. And lastly (and I have seen this a lot) the bathroom is outside the actual restaurant and back in the casino. So whatever romantic illusions you had while in the cellar were brought immediately back to earth when trekking through the slots to the bathroom. Overall, delicious food, excellent service and and lovely touch of old Vegas we truly enjoyed. Thank you for the experience.

TERRIBLE- Beware of upcharges and them ignoring severe allergies. Almost killed my elderly mother and gave no response or tried to apologize for our horrific dinning experience. It was my parents 65th Wedding anniversary and what should have been a beautiful experience and memory turned into a nightmare. They could not have cared less. Below is the letter to general manager. Which received no response.Thank you for sending the itemized receipt to me for our meal on January 7th. While I appreciate that you removed some of the overcharges, I have to say that I'm appalled that you still found it reasonable to charge us for my parent's meal. We explained to you on the first phone call that it had to be sent back to the kitchen due to their steak being full of gristle and it was too tough to cut. The second steak was brought to them in a box after the entire party of 14 had finished eating. So they sat and watched everyone else eat at their party as the guests of honor. As you know, and I explained to you it was their 65th anniversary celebration.Honestly, the overall experience at Hugo's was dismal at best. I worked in the service industry for many years, and even at a low-end restaurant they strive for better service and quality. At a minimum, a meal that is sent back is taken off the check. The second steak that they boxed up and sent in to-go containers was not any better than the first one. My parents ended up throwing the entire meal in the trash. We also told you that our shrimp on the steak and shrimp plates was small and not even close to the advertised so-called jumbo as described on the menu and very undercooked. As you know, my sister and I have been to this establishment many times and have always had a great experience. That is why we chose Hugo's for this special celebration, made reservations weeks in advance, and made the trip downtown when we were staying on the strip. This is supposed to be a highly-rated establishment and frankly, we deserved better service and quality for the price of this meal.Yesterday, I shared with you that my mom told the servers she had a severe shellfish allergy. After eating at Hugo's, she got extremely sick from the salad being mixed with shrimp utensils. On her anniversary celebration, she had a severe allergic reaction that required the use of an EpiPen. She threw up all night and was miserable on a night that should have been special. My sister and I and all of their grandchildren traveled from all over the United States to share this dinner with my parents. This experience ruined 2 days of their anniversary trip. My sweet parents are in their 80s and what happened at your restaurant was not okay or safe for my mom and could have ended with dire consequences. Not to mention my father was stressed and worried and had to care for her in an urgent medical situation due to the carelessness of your staff. People at their age do not just bounce back the next day, she was tired and felt terrible into the following night. Your staff asked us at the beginning of service if anyone had allergies (which I assume is standard protocol) and were told of her allergy. A shift meeting to address the issue weeks later does not begin to compensate for the reality of my elderly parent's situation.Stephen, I do not feel you did enough to right this entire situation. Therefore, I am requesting the contact information for your direct supervisor so that I can share my concerns with him/her.Contrary to what you may think, we are not the type of people who complain. We are happy to pay for great service and excellent food. But between all the extra unsubstantiated charges and unexplained mystery items on the first receipt, my mom's illness, the overall quality of the food and service, it needs to be taken to the next level. Both my sister and I are not satisfied with the outcome. I do feel that your servers treated us with disrespect and thought we would not realize they were upcharging us and adding in extra items.(NO RESPONSE)

We’ve been going to Hugo’s for years. We love the old school ambiance. From the rose for the women, the salad made at the table, the well dressed wait staff and club look, it’s all 50’s Vegas.Yeah, the prices have definitely increased and the steak quality has dropped a tiny bit but it’s still a must-stop for us.One tip: if you love martinis like we do, make sure and order one

My husband and I celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary here last night, and I must say, they made it very special for us. From the fresh rose they gave me when we entered to the decadent chocolate cake at the end, everything was perfect. And the steaks were phenomenal and melted in your mouth. Will definitely be back. And the service was absolutely exceptional

Come here for the ambiance, but tamper your expectations with the food because it's very expensive for an average meal. The tableside salad is unremarkable. My beef wellington was cold AND undercooked. It was sent back and they stuck it under the broiler longer and it brought it back medium (I ordered it medium rare). They did nothing else to make my experience better.Average sides, average desert.I'm never paying $200+ for average again, I don't care how great the ambiance is. Think about this before you do.

Great place for food and service. Perfect for a date night. I had the lobster bisque and my husband had the Alaskan king crab legs. Both dishes were cooked perfect.

What a great dining experience at Hugo's Cellar!! Our first time dining here, made reservations 3 weeks before to celebrate our Anniversary. From the moment you walk downstairs you are taken back in time to an old school dining experience where ladies are greeted with a long stem rose and then we were quickly seated at our booth. The table side salad offers so many topping options and so delicious & satisfying. The bread basket has an assortment of different options to enjoy and the Martini drink was enough to refill again & again! We enjoyed our raspberry sorbet mini cone to cleanse our pallets before our main course. Our Tomahawk steak dinner was cooked to perfection, served with 2sides each and the presentation was on point! To close our evening, we enjoyed a complimentary cake dessert and strawberry platter that came with dinner. Everything was superb and highly recommended if you're in the Downtown area. We will definitely be adding this restaurant to our list of must visit when in Vegas!!

A classic old-school Vegas restaurant. Love the downtown location, the rose for the date and the heavy pour on the drinks.
