This spot never disappoints. Always a go to, especially to cure a hangover. Everything is always on point! I tried the Steak & Eggs and it really hit the spot. Comes with potatoes and toast. The steak was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. I added a side of hollandaise sauce and I'm so glad I did, it paired well with the steak. Their bloody Mary's are also delicious!! Perfectly spiced! If you sit in the front booth, you also get some great people watching during your meal. Service was great, our server was friendly. One of my favorite spots for brunch!!

Big Ed's was a recommendation from a random stranger who said he knew Reno well. I wanted to avoid the glitz and bright lights of the casino restaurants and instead eat at an older establishment more akin to vintage Reno. Big Ed's was the recommendation. Originally, a Chinese laundry from the '30, off one of the most colorful streets in Reno, 4th St., we were on our way. We found plenty of parking and ended up leaving the car on the street across from the strip club. We ordered lunch, and his chile was clearly homemade, delicious, yet cold in the middle. My French dip with lean roast beef came with a flavorful au jus. However, once the sandwich was "dipped," the bread turned to mush. The fries that came with the sandwich were clearly homemade yet were still dripping oil when served. I had to wrap them in my paper napkin to soak up some of the oil. It was fun to think we were dining in a 100 year old laundry and enjoying just a little bit more of Reno's history.

Beware if you or a family member have a disability. My 86 year old father fell in the men's restroom; the door locks from the inside and Big Ed's has no key or access to the restroom. Karina (a 20-something, eye rolling, poor attitude, smart mouth girl) told me he should not have locked the bathroom...like it was my dad's fault. I asked her if she locked the door when using the restroom and she said yes...duh. She told me it was an old building, so they didn't need to have access. I understand it is an old building and just because you do not have to comply with newer ADA regulations, doesn't mean you should ignore safety. REMSA and the Fire Dept arrived to assist (they were all great...Laura was amazing). Some damage was done to the door to get my dad out of the restroom...a door knob change could have avoided this. Big Ed's has always been a family favorite with great food and service. I have never seen Karina, at Big Ed's, before and hope to never again. What an awful person...no care or compassion for another human being. The rest of the staff tried to help and seemed to care about my dad. Last time at Big Ed's for us. Be careful and keep an eye out for your elderly or disabled family. So disappointing.

Stumbled in this place with my family. It was fast and friendly. Neighborhood a little rough but look past that. They serve large portions of food, cooked fresh. The environment was cool too. It's like going back into time, an old brick bar. Children are welcome. It's like the place that the locals go to for a hearty meal and a good drink. Love it every time!

Nice little diner with lots of character and local old timers bellied up at the bar. The breakfast potatoes and french fries are the real deal. My tuna melt was a bit soupy, but everything else was great!

It's good. The service is consistent and friendly. The prices are reasonable and the menu is robust. I enjoyed a cup of New England clam chowder which was quite good, followed by a fairly standard grilled chicken sandwich. Cans of soft drinks are $2 each and they have both Coke and Pepsi - smart! The vibe of the place is old school and I love it.

A quick stop for a late lunch. We ordered a chili dog with chips and a cheese steak with fries. The chili dog was way better tasting than visually. All meat chili and a decent dog underneath. The cheese steak had all of the right ingredients but somehow was lacking. Maybe a bit too much oil or maybe not enough seasoning. I really couldn't put a finger on the reason. The fries were fresh cut potatoes, slightly oily and unsalted to my taste buds. The menu is intriguing and Big Ed's deserves another visit.
