First time in Athos and YOU have to go! A small, local restaurant that provides great service and food. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and makes great recommendations. The grilled octopus was exceptional, with excellent quality and taste. The ambiance is a welcoming and charming setting. They made us feel comfortable and provided us with an unforgettable experience.

We were in town for a day and chanced upon this restaurant as we were in mood for Greek food. This restaurant did not disappoint. The place was quite busy on a Saturday evening. We arrived around 6pm and were promptly seated. Nice ambiance I had the whole grilled Branzino and my husband had the Greek salad with falafel. It was decent. The dessert was a little disappointing. I had the tres leches but i have had better. I love tres leches in general but this one wasn't for me. The cake was too grainy/gritty.... More like corn bread with gritty texture. I should have tried the baklava may br

This restaurant is what we hoped and more. The staff is so attentive to every detail of your experience. The atmosphere is lovely in the dining room and the bar. Lots of space for large or small groups. The bar is comfortable for cocktails. The food preparation is exceptional. The flavoring and sides added are delicious. Plenty of parking and the price ranges are suitable for the food you receive. Desserts and bar choices are wonderful also.

I was shopping in Albany and was looking for an authentic Greek restaurant. I found the restaurant Athos online and based off the pictures I saw, it was exactly what I was looking for. I got the chicken souvlaki entree, Penne alla Vodka, and the feta plate appetizer for $77. It was very pretty inside and more of a fancy restaurant if that's what you're looking for, they also offer takeout. I made a reservation prior so when I arrived I was seated immediately and the waiter gave good service. For the pasta dish the serving was a good size for $26. The serving for the chicken souvlaki dish was on the smaller side for $29, however, the food was fresh and delicious. If you were looking for an authentic Greek lunch or dinner this is definitely the place!

Athos is a fancy, fine dining (priced) Greek restaurant in Albany NY. The ambiance of the place was nice with fine dining lighting, see through floor section, and table setup.Parts of the experience however were not a fit with the pricing and vibe of the restaurant. The menus, old, falling apart, not modernized much. Silverware and plates with heavy signs of aging, not very fitting for the overall feel. A dirty glass with something floating, some dead flowers, some lights out, wooden dressing dividers everywhere, all this minor to the experience, but distractingly common.Pita bread was brought out with a dipping option, while fine, the bread was cold and didn't seem very fresh. The food options were varied, choosing fancier dishes may not have been the best choice. The Athos Bronzino filet was $33 and came with a special chef sauce. The fish filets were pretty small, edges crispy but left in the sauce the underside was soggy fish skin. Potatoes bland, arugula was dressed with what seemed like a basic vinaigrette that just had vinegar notes. The lighter choices with lower flavor profiles made sense, but all of it lacked any special flavor or attention, especially for the asking price. The seafood pasta was fine, again at $36 it felt a bit underwhelming. A half shell was left on a shrimp, which was a bit unpleasant. The Tres Leches did taste good, though it was with caramel over it instead of more common cream topping. Texture wise it was similar to rice pudding, very wet/soggy and dense, your preference could vary here. It was $12.Overall, the place just displays as fine dining, but experiences like an aging local restaurant. The food was ok, but the prices just don't seem to match. It almost feels as if everything was perhaps around $5 more than it should be, for what you get. The dessert price is probably fine, as most share the 9-12 price point. There were just so many little things that alone weren't a big deal, but together add up to a lot of distraction. While I think the food is likely worth trying, I'd recommend picking your favorites, tried and tested foods you love. If you're trying for the first time, there's a ton of appetizers to enjoy that may feel like a better fit for the money. This was an $89+ ($96 after tax) dining experience for 2, with 2 entrees, a dessert, and a drink.

We were greeted with smiles all around. After sitting we met our server, who was fantastic. Their recommendations were beyond exceptional for cocktails. We chose our own food, it turned out they were house favorites. Everything was cooked perfectly, the way they balance their citrus and aromatics is phenomenal. The staff there are quite polite and so welcoming, one of the owners even came to talk to us at the table. I will be recommending this place friends and family alike. I hope to come back as soon as I can.

Ordered the Take out Moussaka Dinner for 4 as well as the Dolmathakia. However, they only gave 3 Moussaka portions and gave a small salad which was not a Greek Salad, and definitely not for 4. When I called to let them know, they stated they know they packed a Greek salad and that the 3 portions of Moussaka is a 4 person serving. Terrible customer service. I will not be eating from there again.
