Lovely place. Fantastic staff. Sadly the worst meal I’ve ever had in my life. And husband’s meal was awful too. I had the crab cake special which was basically two little meally salty sponges for grease. Husband had chicken which was mushy and gross. Even the vegetables were greasy and over salted. Gross. Low quality and badly prepared food. Sickening and disappointing.

Unassuming, but the food and drinks are great. Friendly attentive staff. A lot of thought goes into the dishes, and they change it up every once in a while.

Atmosphere was nice but enjoyed it for much longer than I hoped. I waited 1.5 hours for mediocre chicken, unseasoned potatoes, and soggy kale. Brussels were tasty and staff were nice but overall disappointed.

Went out on Saturday night for a 7pm dinner date. I could tell it was very busy. We sat down at 7 and weren't greeted with menus until about 7:15. We placed our order and about 7:30 the server brought out water. Around 15 minutes later came the cups...We ordered the mussels which were awesome. For our entrees we ordered the d+d burger and chicken sandwich. Around 40 min after we placed our food order the server came by and let us know the kitchen was out of one of the items. We were okay with that since we did not want to wait another 30 min for another entree. Our food finally came out around 8:15. The chicken sandwich was dry and meat almost looked frozen-ish. it was not appetizing.I would try them again, maybe it was just an off night. I do like the atmosphere and the serving staff was nothing beyond courteous.

The Dove and Deer experience begins outside with it's mysterious presence and twinkling string lights. Inside the ambiance is just as delicious as the food - low, soft lighting, a lively bar area, and a neat and uniform array of tables. Being the solitary soul I am, I sat in the row of quiet seats outlooking the street beyond. The setting is nice. I get a cool glass of water as I look over the drink menu. All the wines are dry so the helpful server helped me settle on the Love Maker. It's a subtly floral cocktail with hints of rose water, that made me think fairies might still live. She was a looker for sure and served as the perfect palate cleanser throughout my meal.I decided to skip appetizers and go straight into the main course. It's a frigid February evening in Albany, I needed something to warm my bones. The braised beef tips atop a creamy polenta, with grilled carrots and parsnips seemed like the perfect fair. The dish was beautifully arranged, and well, I'm a sucker for pretty food. It was tender, delectable... every bite seasoned well. It had soul; it lifted me from that evening's mid-winter funk. The beef was incredibly moist and tender. I dug into it, mixing each bite with all the plates' elements, and washing it down with the secret fairy juice. I couldn't finish it all and left only a few bites on the plate.Feeling satisfied with my life, I paid, checked out and walked to my car as a flurry of snow sprinkled over me. Some days are just magic.

Food and drink were very good. Only negatives were, and this is nit picking, but the menu is pricey, and the portions could be a tad bigger. Also, the Brussel sprouts are popular,so be prepared to have that aroma permeate the room!

Excellent all around. Highly recommend to anyone in the area.
Maybe with all the cost cutting and price increases, but I didn't feel like I got enough for the money I spent. It was good food, just not quite enough. Nice staff ?. Great neighborhood location.

Great food, small menu. Busy on a Monday night. This is not a chain restaurant with uninspired food. Got a fried chicken sandwich, truffle fries, brussel sprouts starter; everything was great.

This place is amazing. I came here for my birthday with a friend and we chose to sit outdoors. The atmosphere is so cute and I loved that there was a brick wall that made us feel secluded while also letting us enjoy the outside air. We ordered the Kung Pao brussels to share which were very good, if a little tart. I thought they were a refreshing take on brussels though. My friend ordered the crispy chicken sandwich which she also adored. Overall such a cute place and would definitely come here again.
