Food sucks. Service is even worse. Owner is a wish version of Sam Malone who has done zero to improve this business in the decade he’s owned it.
With all the actual authentic Mexican places in Albany that are much better by comparison there’s zero reason to come to el loco. El mariachi, el patron, el Taco Bell are all better experiences than this poorly maintained restaurant. Owner has failed at multiple attempts to start other restaurants due to lack of actual real restaurant experience. Financing your life from your dad’s trust fund will never lead to actual success. Owner has owed multiple small business owners thousands of dollars and has had to be evicted from the juice shop he purchased and then refused to pay rent ultimately getting locked out and costing a few people their jobs. I have no idea how they let this clown be a part of the Lark street business improvement district when he has no real experience other than riding daddy’s coattails when he has literally stiffed business owners for rent payments
Again the owner has done zero to improve el loco in ten years and refuses to do so. He was forced to throw out an entire walk in cooler full of food by the health department in 2023 because the cooler wouldn’t maintain temperature and he was too cheap to fix it.
