I chose this restaurant because of the reviews and it was close to Times Union Center so my daughter and I didn't have to walk far for the Celine concert. I had made a 5pm reservation. We arrived 3 minutes before 5, though they didn't open until 5. Went inside and there where 8 others waiting. We were greeted by the hostess who informed us they didn't open until 5, instead of a hello and welcome. First turn off. Then as she preceded to seat us and another couple and she informed us the soup wasn't warm yet. Really, if you open at 5 why wouldn't the soup be ready. We placed our order at 5:15. Received our cocktails and salad on a timely manner. Now it is 6:35 and we are still waiting for our meal as was most of the other patrons that where there, which was only 6 tables and 16 people in the beginning and then a table of 8/10 arrived. Our waiter must have been new because he was running around like a chicken with his head cut off but not accomplishing much and seemed very nervous. There was also another waitress who was very pleasant but was taking care of others. When I finally was able to grab our waiter I informed him I needed to be out of there in 35 minutes. He did apologize and said our food should be out shortly. Really, we have been waiting over 1 1/2 hours for our food. At this point only 3 tables had received their food and most patrons were chatting about having to make the concert. Finally our dinner arrived. We both had a steak, mine a special with shrimp scampi and my daughter had scallops. Steak was horrible, Very fatty. Scampi was ok but pasta was cold. My daughter said scallops were ok, Having to both devour our food so we could make the concert, the $100 bill for just the two of us and that only included one cocktail, plus the obnoxious long wait time for food, I would not recommend nor will I be going back. I don't mind paying for good food but was not worth it.

My daughter contacted me and said they were having a burlesque show. Let's go. Long story short we had a party of 8. I have eaten in every type of eatery known to man. From dives to Tavern On The Green. I must say the meal was FANTASTIC!!! The wait time for the meal was a little lengthy but well worth the wait. Everything was perpaired to perfection. The staff was very attentive. One last note, the bill, all I can say is I have paid more for dinner for me and my wife than the total for the eight of us. (which included drinks) If you should find yourself in Albany and you real enjoy steak and seafood you will not be disappointed.

100% fantastic food! Dont listen to the other few bad reviews.....I have been comming here with my daughter for 6 year.... I have never had a bad meal here EVER! There was one occasion when a couple of my scallops we're not cooked all the way and I had to send it back and they made me a complete brand new order. The food is unbelievable and you are going to wait a little bit for your food because everything is made to order. This is not like going into Applebee's or something and your food comes out in 10 minutes. The Reef and Beef is phenomenal!

Albany Restaurant Week brought us to this lovely old restaurant. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and the building. Building was built in 1907. Old building we were told has a ghost resident. (No, I did not hear the specter.) Our choices were prime rib, salmon or shrimp. SO chose the prime rib which came with a baked potato and steamed green beans. I chose the shrimp which was in a spicy tomato sauce. (Chef offered to add some clams to my entree. Nice! Also was served with a side of steamed green beans.) Seafood was not over cooked and quite yummy. Rolls delivered to table side was fresh from the oven. Salad, entree and dessert were more than enough to satisfy us. It was a most pleasant experience. Staff were very friendly. Parking in the rear of the building.

I love restaurant week and the menu for this place looked great for I decided to give it a try. There is a small parking lot in the back (big plus for being downtown). We walked in and was greeted and seated immediately. Not sure why reservations were required since this place was nearly empty. Staff was slightly rude, for example as we were leaving she asked us if she ran our credit card... almost accusing us of dining and dashing. I'm not sure how you would forget if you ran our card since there was only like four or five tables. Additionally service was slow. There was a significant time in between courses. Food was decent but nothing to write home about. Steak was cooked well (medium rare) and sides could have been seasoned better. The chocolate cake was probably the best part of the meal. Overall I would come here again if I was in the area and it was convenient, however would not choose to go here as a first choice.

Very poor experience during Restaurant Week - waiter seemed annoyed to be serving us and they ran out of their Prime Rib special by 7pm- the place wasn't even that busy.. it's a gorgeous establishment but the service and food is awful.. save your money and go to one of the many other great restaurants in Albany!
