I was pleasantly surprised with Jack's diner! We ordered chilaquiles verdes, chicken chimichanga omelette, and a pupusa revuelta. Everything was delicious, and came out quickly. Will add more details to this later!

My Dad and recently enjoyed lunch between appointments at the VA Hospital. Parking is available on site, however it's not plentiful. The menu is extensive - typical diner fare and also a separate "Latin food" menu (pretty sure that was what was written in the cover) with a nice selection of both typical items (eg, tacos) and ones that are more unusual for our area. I chose the birria tacos - amazing. I'm still thinking about them three weeks later. Full of meat, not overly greasy or cheesy, just the right combination. The birria marinade was so delicious I drank it all. My Dad, not known for a big appetite, got the French dip with fries. He surprisingly ate every bite. The waitress thought he said French onion soup and brought that first instead, but the order was quickly corrected. The soup looked delicious. The noise level was just right, which was important with a hearing impaired person. Pictures in the wall are fun to look at and see how much Albany has changed, and how much is the same. I'll be back again soon!

Love this old diner! Been many times, its located very close to work. I ordered 2 over easy eggs, rye toast, home fries and corned beef hash + coffee. What arrived to me was corned beef hash with bell peppers in it. I am highly allergic to bell peppers. No where on their menu did it say there were bell peppers in this meal. I've ordered corned beef hash in many greasy spoons from PA to NJ to RI to MA and I never ever had bell pepper in my corned beef hash.I explained to the waitperson that this is a food allergy they said sorry and walked away. I asked for a replacement and they said that it would take a while due to it being busy. I got up to leave without eating the meal and was told I had to pay.I will never come back here again. I suppose I'll just go to one of the many fast food places on central instead of supporting local if this is how they treat customers.

Jack's is an Albany staple. It's got new managers. The food is just a little too dry for anything but a four star rating. My burger was stale and it had no toppings! No side, either... Jack's has a nice silver and red streamline shell but the food needs a new Chef; or the Chef needs new inspiration. The cole slaw floated in a water. The coffee was pasty. If the kitchen can't do a simple American burger - what's the happs, sisters?? I am seated on ripped seats.. Step it up managers! Get with the real culinary program. Review: 4

I always like coming here. In the mornings the breakfast is excellent and so isn't the service.This time I came for lunch, my first and service at first was good but than the waitress didn't follow up much.
