I'd rate Rolando's Diner four and a half stars. After eating almost only snacks for the previous 48 hours, it was good to have a proper meal at Rolando's. I shared a booth with a few friends around noon on a weekday. The diner was fairly empty which was pretty surprising given how good the food and value were. I had a custom breakfast combo with home fries, pancakes, and eggs. Everything was perfect! This diner is as good as any that I've eaten at in NYC. Service was very attentive and the food was ready quickly.

Okay so let's get into it.. I went here because my usual breakfast place is closed on Monday and I had heard good things so I figured okay let's give it a try. Someone else described this place on here as a hole in the wall diner and I kind of get that. The appearance from outside walking in wasn't really nothing to brag about. Looked kind of run down and could use a little little cleaning. Once we got in it looked pretty good. The tables were clean the chairs were comfortable, I sat up at the counter and the wait staff was really friendly and the menu had your basic diner food on it, at some pretty good prices I might add. The breakfast itself was pretty good as well as other places I go they cook on the grill with oil and this place uses butter. Everything tastes better with butter. Actually my rule is everything tastes good deep fried but if you can't go there then just add some butter. . Now for the reason that I only gave it three stars. The first isn't really anything they can do but the hallway that leads down to the bathrooms is a rather tight squeeze. The bathrooms themselves are rather small and they didn't necessarily look dirty but a fresh coat of paint and some new caulk around the sink and stuff like that wouldn't cost that much and would greatly improve the experience. Maybe even some fresh flooring which wouldn't really cost that much because like I said it's a very small bathroom. The number one complaint that I have is the gentleman doing the cooking. He was wearing gloves which I guess is a good thing but it all depends on what you're doing while you have the gloves on. I mean if you're handling food yes a pair of gloves definitely gives the appearance of being a little more clean however if you're touching everything else around you including a cell phone and scratching your face and then getting back into the cooking then the gloves really don't make a big difference anymore. But aside from that like I said the food was really good and the service was excellent, the glove thing is just kind of my opinion... That I happen to share with quite a few people I'm sure.

I ordered some chicken sandwiches and some fries. I asked were the chicken sandwiches like it was back in the day and I was told yes. The waitress added my order in which she tried to charge me more than what she was supposed to and said I discounted it. Luckily before she gave me the price I asked for a menu to check the prices. I then added it up to the new price. I did pull out my calculator to make sure it was correct. I paid and went home 3mins away. The fries looked old and the chicken was not how it use to back when Rolando owned it. I called to complain about the fries not being fresh and the disgusting waitress said I watched him take them out the fryer and I said they weren't even hot so she hangs up on me. Surprise I showed up and brought the fries back and the waitress ran to the back to let her boss come try and handle me. While I'm telling him that the fries wasn't fresh hear she jumps in saying I was rude to her on the phone. He tried to make more fries and I said no I want to be reimbursed. He tried to say I was there an hour ago and I pulled my receipt out to show that it wasn't a hour. He tried to toss the fries back saying he wasn't going to reimburse me and I told yes you are. To anyone who visits this establishment make sure to get a menu to check the prices and take cash because now its a surcharge for credit and debit use.

Raylan knows is always a good place to go and eat though they are often out of something and there's never a spoon with your silverware on the table and it's a gamble if you have any place to hang your coat you'll surely leave with a satisfied appetite.

Changed a lot, it’s horrible now. They use s-bar hot dogs I feed my dog, they don’t care about the quality of the food they dish out. That was my last time there unfortunately, I used to like going here but the place went downhill.

If you want frozen fries & frozen popcorn shrimp & an overly greasy tasteless burger, this is the place for you! Used to be a regular there when I worked downtown, but its definitely not the place it used to be!
