All the food that was coming out looked delicious. I SAW TWO HUGE SALADS! That both people enjoyed, they just couldn't finish it. I saw chicken tenders. That were huge, I thought was fish fry. I thought they looked yummy and was good size!I was very happy with my order. The waitress was friendly. She even suggested a drink. I felt the waitresses that served us took care of our needs from extra napkins. When some places are stingy about giving out napkins. Both our meals were appetizing! Will suggest to others to eat here. Have to get the homemade chips!

Waited for 1.5 hrs for food. I ordered no dessert or appetizers. It was an American burger. Since I was with a group i couldn't leave but i won't be visiting anytime soon. My first time visiting also. Chips were burnt and burger was bland and the bun cold.

Perfect cozy neighborhood spot- always go here with my family when I come back from NYC to visit. Family owned & operated… what sets it apart is the food quality. Burger, chicken sandwich, menu items are all elevated above the typical “bar food”I met the owners and they were super attentive and you can tell they care. They’re hospitality industry veterans and bring some expertise to what they do here. Would definitely recommend for the whole family. Warm atmosphere and just one of those places that’s a consistent good experience.

The owner does now know how to treat his employees and the employees don't wash there hands and don't where gloves like they should worst place I have ever been I called there one time and the bartender was extremely rude the owner is cheap and eating at this place was disgusting. I walked in through the back there employees smoking pot out back by the door I will never take my family to this establishment again I would give it zero stars

A cozy sit down experience with good food and some missed marks, ending with some discrepancies on the check. We visited South City Publick House on a weekend evening between 6 and 8pm. The establishment was slightly busy.We opted for a bar seat on this visit and were promptly greeted by staff. South City has a quaint, cozy feel to it when not packed to the brim for live gigs, and our entire sit-down experience at the bar was very comfortable. The bartender was prompt to take our orders and very attentive to our needs. On this visit we ordered a basket of fries with the sweet spicy chile seasoning and the pepper jack egg rolls, and for an entree we went with the Baja burger and the South City chicken sandwich. The appetizers came out quick! The fries with the sweet spicy chile seasoning were hot and crispy and the seasoning really added a unique flavor that I enjoyed. The pepper jack egg rolls were... interesting. Not bad, by any means, but I found myself just wishing they were regularly breaded instead of wrapped like an egg roll as the egg roll didn't deliver as much flavor as I would have hoped. The entrees came out with perfect timing, but we had some issues here. The chicken sandwich and potato chips came out dark, very crispy, and tasting somewhat burnt. My initial thought was old cooking oil but since we didn't have those issues with the appetizers I assume they were kept in the fryer a bit too long. It's really too bad, because otherwise the South City Chicken Sandwich was very juicy. The Baja Burger, however, was cooked to perfect temperature, was very juicy and had great flavor. My last (minor) gripe was when the check came. It turns out the current prices for South City's menu items do not match the prices found in the menus, with every dish we purchased being on average 30-60 cents higher than the advertised price. I Thought I may have missed a notification about this hanging somewhere so I checked around the bar and on the walls and couldn't find any explanation.Look, a couple extra dollars on what turned out to be a near $80 check isn't going to break the bank, but I really don't think it's too much to ask to have the menus updated to reflect the new pricing, or at least a posted notification stating the prices are now above menu cost. With the prices of everything skyrocketing nowadays and the sticker shock of the already inflated menu costs, having even higher prices than expected on your receipt feels like a bit of a gut punch.Overall our experience with South City Publick House was a positive one and we will likely dine here again. I would like to give the South City chicken sandwich another shot when it's not overcooked and we did enjoy our time here.

Took a long time to get food even though it wasn't busy. No water served with meals. Asked for some, got it later. The amount of aujusthey give you with the prime rib is miniscule. Not disappointed though it's a nice place to have dinner.

So , tried this place out. Menuis very simple and drink menu is nice. They were out of the drink I ordered. We waited 20 minutes for drinks and to find out I had no drink she came out with a different drink I ordered 15 minutes later and took our food order. Didn't bring us any water. 30 minutes later, food came out. One in our party got the wrong side, and things were missing from her burger. So that was another 15-minute wait. Finally, her burger came out, and I could have mine. Burger was bland and missing things as well. Also, I asked for medium rare and got a medium well, but we were already an hour and 15 minutes in, so I was not trying to wait any longer for my food. Didn't get water until we asked for it at the end. Waitress was bubbly but absent. The food sounded good but was bland. Drinks were not up to snuff. Not worth 25 per person. Will not be back.

We were looking for another place for dinner after getting off I 81 but could not find it and saw this so we thought “How bad can it be”. It turned out to be good and even great when you consider we had no idea any thing about the area. Staff were great and food was above average bar food. Highly recommend

Walked in with my wife and daughter, and were immediately greeted by numerous staff. It was warm and inviting, and showed the history of the area on the walls. The Italian wedding soup was the best I’ve ever had by far, and everything else was simply amazing. Will be back again.

The waitress was nice, and we had no problems ordering. I got a crab cake BLT sandwich with fries, and I had a couple of wings from my sister and a bite of my other sister's chicken spiedie sandwich. I also had a cup of broccoli cheddar soup and a few of my mom's sweet potato fries. The soup was great, and the crab cake sandwich was pretty good overall, although it could've used a little more seasoning... Nothing a pinch of salt and a squeeze of lemon couldn't improve. The chicken wings were just slightly overcooked, but still pretty good as well. The sauce on the spiedie sandwich didn't seem to fit well with the spiedies, but it was still good and the spiedies were on point. Additionally, my mom's sweet potato fries were fantastic.

Went there for dinner with friends. Only two other tables had 2 people at them. We ordered within 8-10 min after we were served drinks. Although the food was really good, we were very displeased we had to wait an hour and 40 min to get our twomsalad, a chicken spiedies sandwich and a fried cod sandwich!! It was ridiculous. The waitress was very apologetic and noted that they had a cook quit, and another one hospitalized, so they were down to two cooks. They gave us free dessert which I appreciate but we saw others get burgers, pay and leave who came in after us. I hope they find help soon. Good place to chill..good food except for this experience.

Beware it can be EXTREMELY LOUD. This place looks awesome and is a full brick building. Because of that it gets very hard to hear. I even struggled communicating with my server because of that. My server was a very sweet young lady and she did wonderful and was as attentive as possible with the number of tables she was covering. I did the fish fry special with Mac and cheese and it was decent. Fish was a chunk of what I believe was cod, it was fried decently, and didn't have too many bones in it at all which is a plus.

Tough one; venue and staff - really nice. The food though, not so good. I wouldn't necessarily recommend going there, since I wouldn't go back, but maybe worth a try as you may have a better experience than I did.
