I order from here all the time and it’s always great. Sushi is good they make fairly large rolls. Their other dishes are great as well such as the Katsu or chicken teriyaki. I have never been inside but delivery is always quick. Fish quality is good but nothing spectacular, this is a spot when you want good food for a good price.

Their customer service was ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE... the person we spoke to on the phone admitted they were at fault for messing up the order and then gave several reasons as to why they couldn't remedy the situation beyond giving a credit for the missing item... the missing item was a sushi roll, he selected spicy mayo... will never order from them again as it also shows a lack of attention to detail when placing orders for delivery... don't waste your time...NYC is full of better sushi restaurants who take the time to fix an issue, especially if they caused it.

We were missing an item from our order. We called the restaurant and the person on the phone admitted that he was at fault as he just saw "spicy" and selected mayo and not the roll that was requested. When we asked if they could have the roll sent over to us (as it was the restaurant that was at fault) the person on the phone made up several excuses as to why he could not (it's getting busy, he couldn't find his drivers, etc.) while he did offer a credit in the amount of the missing item, after this exchange, we were so turned off from every ordering with them again that we just took a credit that we know we probably will never use (especially since he admitted he was the one at fault for the messed up order). If we could mark this as a less than half star on google for service, we would do so.

I rarely leave reviews but this needs to be said so people don’t fall for the 5 star rating on seamless. I don’t know who’s rating this place a 5, but it was garbage. The fish actually tasted dirty and I had to spit out two pieces. The rice felt and tasted like it was 2 days old. The person I ordered with agreed. It was some of the worst sushi I have ever tasted.

This place does not have even the slightest care for their customers. I ordered Yaki Udon with chicken and it came out with the most tiny trace amount of chicken for $14. Horrible things experience and rude staff. Terrible ambiance. Nowhere to sit. Seems like they have just given up

I really appreciate Akaru. They deliver SO fast, and they're more reasonably priced than most sushi places of equivalent quality. There are certainly fancier spots with nicer digs, but Akaru is at a perfect cross section of price/quality that keeps me coming back.
