Vibe is pretty authentic, the taste is quite good and authentic, and serves super fast.Be aware that they are street style so that means the food is not delicate. Part of my udon was completely stick together and uncooked.Portion runs small.Vegetarian options: Sansai udon

I REALLY loved the udon from this place. All the noodles are handmade and slightly chewy. It's a stall inside the Japan Village so it's like getting affordable food court food but at very high quality. It might be hard to get seating immediately since it's shared with all the other stalls but you shouldn't have to wait too long. I ordered the tempura udon which came with tempura shrimp, vegetables, and peppers. The tempura was also really good: crispy and not oily. For the price that you pay (about $15) I'd say the portion sizes are fair too. I also got to try a little bit of my friend's mentaiko cream udon which was flavorful and delicious. If it weren't for the long commute from Manhattan I'd try to eat here every week.

The food was salty , we enjoyed it but was very sub par. I went there after doing the amazing escape room on the second floor ! But the service counter lady wasn’t very pleasant we all thought the same :/ for that price to give salty noodle ?

Daily fresh-made Udon noodles are best of the city... our favorite lunch spot at Japan village.

My nephew loves it here- he loves the freshly made udon noodles so much that he asks to be taken to his ‘favorite noodle’ place every weekend.

My husband and I came here for lunch and I got Sansai Soba and my husband got the Nabeyaki Ubon and we thought the food was just ok. My soup was more flavorful while his lacked some flavor but overall glad to try it.

Wow, the mentaiko creamy udon is out of this world. It's like if Japan discovered mac and cheese but elevated it to the 7th dimension. It's so flavorful, and there's a nice texture of the fish eggs. Really goes well with the udon. I wish more restaurants had this style of udon! This place is tucked away inside the Japan village building, so don't miss it! The portion doesn't look big , but honestly I'd probably die from cholesterol from how creamy it is if it was bigger.

Oh it's very bad :( After walking in hot outside, I craved for cold soba - so I ordered Zaru Tempura. Soba is so choppy and tasteless. Tempura has SO MUCH batter on it - so heavy and super oily. Real tempura is light, and although I see this mistake too often in the states, Gohei is next level heavy. I opted out to-go bento options in the same food court and instead splurged a bit for this real soba... so I hoped. Regretting my decision.

Definitely a place to get good handmade noodles. These were delicious!Had the sliced beef over noodles. Long thinly sliced strips of beef were tender and nicely marinated. Soup had a good flavor, slightly sweet. Noodles were awesome, smooth and silky with a nice bite to them. Perfectly cooked. Marries perfectly with the soup. This is even made better with many different add ons, that are available, like boneless fried chicken pieces (kaarage).Only negative is that there is a thin layer of oil on top of the soup. So delicious though, I would still get this dish again though.Location: this is a stall inside the food court, which is across from Sunrise Mart, within Industry City.Seating: There is a few seats at a low counter, surrounding Gohei's cooking area. For more seating, get this meal to go, and walk deeper into Industry City for outdoor and indoor seating, throughout the complex.Service is fine, no issues, but do remember to say if it's eat in or take out. Enjoy!

Kid-friendliness: My 7 year old nephew loves this restaurant- he watches how they make the noodles while he slurps on his yummy noodle soup he came to love!

BLUF: Good Niku Udon soup.We were impressed with our first visit to Gohei, a purveyor of udon and soba noodle soups in Japan Village. They seem better than their 3.2 rating on Yelp in mid-August 2023 suggests. We ordered a Niku Udon (a beef noodle soup) for $13.78 ($15 with tax), with an add-on serving of chicken karaage (fried chicken) for $3.21 ($3.50 with tax), to go. The beef was thinly sliced, sweet, somewhat fatty, and a large portion. The broth had a meaty sweetness to it, but could benefit from more scallions. The udon noodles had a nice bounciness and chew to them. I like how Gohei and Japan Village displays post-tax prices on their menus, as this is the amount most people actually pay. Prices are displayed post-tax in Japan, too. While we took our order to go, it may be better to dine in, to experience the noodles and soup at their intended temperatures. We would definitely return for the Niku Udon, and to try other dishes.

Cold soba portions was small. Tempura was brown and over cooked. Overall not tasty.
