This was the loveliest sushi spot with such friendly staff. They went above and beyond to help us order and were overall just kind people. We got a ton of food for less than $60 for 2 people. The sushi was also some of the best.

(February 2024)Staff is kind and accommodating. Atmosphere is very pleasant. The Nuri in my sushi was weirdly not easy to eat. I had to chew a lot on it.

I have been here for both dinner and lunch. I prefer the dinner menu over their lunch menu because of the bigger portions and wider variety, but the dinner menu is available at lunch as well. For dinner, my partner got the braised short rib which he was very pleased with. I got the set of four hand rolls which all tasted fresh and delicious. The hand rolls are more like open sushi tacos. There was a lot of filling so I ended up being fuller than I expected. For lunch, we had the lunch bento set which included a small portion of an entrée, a miso soup or salad, and a hand roll of your choice for about $25 depending on your entree. The teriyaki is on the milder side. Overall, I am happy to have this little gem in Brooklyn. Besides the good food, service has always been exceptional too.

I went here spontaneously with my best friend. The food was delicious and it was beautiful. This was the first time I took photos of my food because it was so beautiful! But above all, I would say that the service was spectacular. John was the absolute best. He was professional, inclusive, and made sure that my best friend and I had the absolute best experience.Thank you, John! I will almost remember the stellar service.

I gotta give this place top marks. As soon as I came in their one of the workers immediately came to assist me. I forgot her name but one of the women that works there immediately directed me to some of the deals they have which is rare. I appreciate workers they try to provide alternatives or provide options for customers to get a full on experience. It’s rare to get that experience. Also the food is fresh. Like somebody caught it at the ocean and brought the seafood in the same day fresh. Can’t recommend this place enough. Please go and be patient and no, they don’t care about race very kind and respectful people. The prices are fair, keep in mind the food is fresh and everything is still very reasonable.

Mikado is very striking from the street. I wish they'd spend as much energy on the food as they did on the decor.I was telling my boyfriend that the menu seemed a little strange compared to other Japanese restaurants in the area and a woman at the next table chimed in, "yes, it's a little weird but the food is delicious”.I guess it's a case of to each his own. We had the $79 set menu that we shared and added a couple of appetizers. I thought the portions on the $79 menu were a bit stingy even though it's only for one person. I did notice that the table next to us both had the $32 bento box and that looked less than generous as well. The karaage Fried Chicken was so basic. Nothing Interesting to say about it. Fried Chicken nuggets. The shredded chili peppers on top were tasteless. Apparently, the sauce had truffle in it. I didn't taste it.We had the crispy rice. It's probably the worst version of this dish I've ever had. The chunk of crispy rice is supposed to be crispy and this was chewy and hard to eat. From the set menu the oyster with yuzu phone was just odd. Sweet Yuzu foam on an oyster. Meh.The Cold buckwheat noodles were adequate. I'm assuming that the dinner portion of this is much bigger than what you get on the set menu. The only good dish was the tuna tart. The nori cracker on the bottom was nice and crisp. The spicy tuna was goodThere was a cucumber salad that had the same sesame dressing as the cold noodles. There was madish fish sashimi came with a ponzu jelly that was indistinct. We had a maki roll instead of the hand roll from and ordered one. They were a unusual size since they cut the roll into four pieces. More than one bite and weirdly chewy..It also came with eight pieces of sushi that were fine. One of them had two tiny firefly squid on top. I'd never seen that before. I will give points for that. They serve sad red bean ice cream as dessert. It didn't even taste like red bean. It was more like vanilla that someone threw some red beans in as an afterthought. The service was a bit uneven. The place was pretty quiet and I had to wave people down to clear the dishes.Maybe it's a good addition for Brooklyn Heights, but Ki sushi on Smith Street far superior.

I ordered sushi takeout from here and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste. Will definitely be ordering from here more often from now on.

Came here to celebrate and the entrees didn't disappoint! I tried the truffle mushroom bacon fried rice, signature buckwheat cold noodle and braised angus beef short ribs. Both the cold noodle and the short ribs were soo good. I was literally doing a happy dance while I was eating. For handballs I ordered spicy crab, scallop yuzu, spicy salmon and wagyu uni. I don't recommend is the wagyu uni. I thought the waygu was over cooked and it was not worth the $22 compare to everything I ordered with my friends. The service was good. The staff members were friendly. I do want to go back again to try their other entrees.

I got this delivered, but oh my god it was so good I'm planning on dining in person here soon. I got a 4 Roll Maki set and it was the perfect way to get to try out four different kinds of rolls, and they were all great (salmon avocado maki, California maki, yellowtail scallion maki and salmon cucumber maki).

Recommend by friend and went there early. Soon the restaurant was full packed with customers and takeout. Amidst perpetual buzz, our sushi haven thrives, bustling with patrons and take-out enthusiasts alike. Every corner teems with the aroma of freshly prepared rolls and the chatter of delighted diners. From intimate tables to hurried take-out counters, the energy is palpable, inviting all to savor the delights of our beloved culinary sanctuary.

I was pretty excited to try this place out and got a large variety of items but I think the actual sushi I received just was not as good as my expectations. The best item I had was the crispy rice, which was honestly quite good but I thought the experience went a little downhill from there. The actual nigiri sushi I ordered had much more wasabi inside than I would have expected…so much so that it overpowered the flavor of the fish and rice and triggered that harsh “burning” sensation when eating wasabi but with every single bite. It entirely overpowered the entire experience. I also ordered a toro hand roll at the end. For toro, I expected something fatty and delicious but I thought it was the worst item I had all evening. The fish was very cold and it felt like there were little chunks of ice (suggesting that it may have been frozen). Outside of those pieces, the meal was fine but I don’t think I would go back

Last night's dining experience fell far short of our expectations, resembling a Seinfeld episode more than a pleasant evening out. Despite having made a reservation for 7 pm (a decision made somewhat lightheartedly after all available slots were open online), our arrival revealed a packed restaurant with no available table for us. The delay in seating us extended until 7:40 pm, leaving us contemplating whether to leave or endure the chilly Saturday night without a clear alternative.Once seated, the lack of attention was conspicuous, with nearly ten minutes passing before we saw our server. Although apologetic, the server appeared scattered. To add to the frustration, a neighboring group of girls arrived, had their orders taken, received their food, paid, and departed before our meal was served. While it felt almost personal, I recognize it likely wasn't.Despite the promising quality of the food, featuring excellent sushi and good miso soup at a reasonable price, the overall experience was marred by the excessive wait. What should have been a swift dining affair turned into an almost three-hour ordeal. The issue persisted as we had to wait for our check, prompting me to approach someone personally, highlighting the lack of attention during the entire meal. This disappointing experience was particularly disheartening as we had high hopes for the limited local sushi options available. The chaotic atmosphere left us questioning a potential return. While the thought of enduring such prolonged waits for food again is disheartening, the quality of the sushi may warrant a second chance. Our negative encounter has been widely shared within our building, and we regret not being able to offer a more positive review to generate additional support for the restaurant, which seemingly has no shortage of reservations. In offering constructive advice, it is suggested that the establishment consider hiring new staff and ensuring they are adequately prepared for a busy service. If aiming for good food, adequate staffing and preparation are vital elements. Overall, a disappointing -5/10 experience.
