What an INCREDIBLE bakery, absolutely one of the best in New York. First off, the owners are super kind and welcoming, TJ and Cynthia are always down to answer questions about the bakes, and they make the place so inviting. So far, I've had an almond croissant, a regular croissant, one of the little gf cookies, and some sesame sourdough crackers. All have been 10/10. I'd recommend getting as much as you can, it's all fantastic.

I had this place saved on my list of to go bakeries for a while. I finally went today with my partner. The space is small so we realized one or two customers go inside while others wait outside. We got a few things including the whole wheat bread, a spicy almond cookie and a honey cardamon challah roll. Wow, we were lucky to be there right before a batch of the honey cardamon challah rolls came out of the oven. We had it warm and it was exquisite. The service was also so friendly, they patiently told us about their process and each item available. I wish we lived closer so we could make this our regular bakery, very fresh and tasty.

writing this post full of gratitude for the consistently excellent output of the magical moonrise bakery. this wonderful place makes brooklyn feel like a village, populated by friendly humans who care about each other & want everyone to eat well. so much love and deliciousness is put into every loaf! i think my fave is the purple sourdough but the square super-seedy bread is also a mainstay…. also every novel variety of sourdough they produce deserves to be tried. & i can’t walk away without a dark chocolate tahini cookie…. the taste of it has created a happy memory-bubble of moonrise in my food-brain forever. thank you for feeding us well!

First off, Cynthia & TJ are awesome! They are super friendly & nice. They take time to have a conversation with their customers, they don't just take your money & rush you away. I've only tried their baguettes, brownies, & tahini cookies but they are always great! The baguettes are usually warm, crispy outside & soft inside. The only thing is you have to eat it within a day, 2 at the most. She doesn't use yeast so they will get hard fast. The brownies are very rich & chocolatey! Grab a cup of milk. They are moist & so tasty. And the tahini cookies have lots of big chocolate chips. Update: I wanted to try one of their other breads. There was one loaf that was looking especially good. I asked TJ what it was & he said " rye". I told him I usually don't like rye. He said, "Hold on. I want you to smell something," and let me get a whiff of caraway seeds. He said "when people say they don't like rye, it's usually the caraway seeds they don't like." The smell was somewhat familiar but it's been years since I've tried rye because I stay away from it. TJ said they make rye with & without caraway so they can please more customers taste buds. I decided to take a chance & try the rye sans caraway. I was pleasantly surprised - rye Does taste good! My son was also hesitant to try because he just wants to eat their baguettes. He took a slice, and asked for more I'll take pics next time...

Simply amazing. The multigrain sourdough was packed with oats, chia seeds, flax seeds, sunflower seeds etc, very nutritious. Soft and moist on the inside. Everything is made from scratch, I mean..they even mill their own flour! I was very impressed, and with every bite I can taste how much thoughts and care they put into their creations. Also, I was lucky enough to get a baguette fresh out of the oven, which was absolutely delicious, so much so that I finished almost half of it on my walk home lol They have rotating flavors for sourdough, and you can call to find out what they are making that day. Will definitely be coming back to try some more!! ??

Some of the best breads, cookies, and brownies you’ll find anywhere in New York. Don’t skip the baguettes—they’re special. And the owners are really nice and knowledgable too!

I love this bakery. The owners are so nice and everything is baked fresh daily. The baguettes are to die for- I end up eating half of one before even getting home because what's better than a crunchy baguette with a soft chewy interior? The sourdoughs here are also amazing. Give the whole grain ones a try, it's nothing like the dry tasteless stuff you get at a grocery store. They also have desserts- I love the brownies and the pan de elote. Also, for the entire month of September on Fridays and Saturday's (I think, pls check their insta) they have these flatbread pizzas. I got a margherita pizza which has a perfectly balanced sauce, slightly tangy, and fresh mozzarella. It's a hole in the wall shop but definitely come check it out. It's a two min walk from the 9th Avenue station (d train).

Got the rosemary sourdough, it was amazing. Also the pistachio cookies were unique and sublime. The people working there were super nice and helpful. They do everything in-house including milling their own flour.Go Visit before it becomes too popular and there’s a line outside

This is such a cute mom and pop shop. It has different types of pastries on the weekends and bread such as sourdough, baguettes on the weekdays. They couple that own it are very nice. They do have mobile ordering which is convenient to know what they have in stock. They also have iced coffee. For big holidays like Mother’s Day or thanksgiving I always order their pastries for desert. EVERYTHING has always been a hit with my family.

The bread and baked goods here are so good. It's pretty much just three old hippies and a giant oven in a tiny hole in the wall. But is it the best bread in NYC at the moment? I wouldn't be shocked. I'm not sure why I am posting this review. I love being the only person in the store every time I swing by. But it's just too good to sleep on.

This little shop bakes the best bread, cookies and croissants I have ever eaten. I can't claim to have done an exhaustive survey, but if you told me this is the best bread in NYC at the moment, I wouldn't blink. What makes it better, if that's even possible, is how out of the way it is. If you dropped this place in Soho, there would be a line up the street. In Sunset Park, I'm often the only person in the shop. As far as I can tell, it's just three old hippies with a little storefront working their hippie yeast sorcery. Somebody is always pulling something out of the oven. Today it was pain au chocolat baked with butter they imported from Normandy. I also got some shortbread cookies that are perfect. And a baguette that is bonkers good. I am in rapture. If you're not making the trek out here for bread, you need to question your whole life.
