Bakery used to be a lot more Cuban authentic, the pastry seems to be pre made, no Cuban bread in sight either. Such a shame.

I was the only person in Pilar coffee shop. I waited 10min for a man to make me a hot coffee that I ordered iced, which he remedied by pouring it into a cup of ice which obviously melted instantly. I told him I needed quick food so I ham croquettes because he said they’d take 5 minutes to warm up. After TWENTY minutes of him fiddling around I told him I needed to leave, he asks me what I ordered again? And goes into the kitchen and brings me out a bag which I open in the car to find COLD chicken empanadas ? It genuinely felt like a skit

The best cuban bakery in the area!! Great service and I’m obsessed with their guava pastries. They have an array of other options for breakfast and lunch. Neighborhood favorite for sure

Came here for the first time on December 3, 2023, seeking Cuban bread. The restaurant has closed but a small bakery around the corner is still open for tostadas, empanadas, pastelitos, coffee, etc. It’s a shame that they have had to scale back but my cafe con leche and a buttered tostada was still top notch! Go support them!

Food is okay. The drinks are better. Why the food is just ok? Because what ordered seemed to be pre-made and not as fresh as I expected based on preview reviews. Also, a bit overpriced considering the area.

One of the best salads I’ve had. Went for dinner with a friend who had been there a few times and enjoyed several dishes on the menu. I got the salad with chicken and it was a 12/10. Pickled cabbage and onions, avocado, mixed greens, a good portion of protein, and a delicious vinaigrette. Even the broad beans were flavorful. I’m a huge fan of savory foods with an acidic kick, and love a healthy portion of protein and fiber. I’m also dairy-free. This checked every boxed and the flavors were so good I would have ordered another to go, but they were closed. The way the salad was plated was also gorgeous and the service was warm and generous. Couldn’t ask for more.Vegetarian options: There were two vegan entrees and the salad is vegan-friendly. There also seem to be several vegan sides. Plenty of optionsKid-friendliness: We went with an 18-month. The staff was super accommodating and even shifted a table to make room for the strollerWheelchair accessibility: We had a stroller and were able to easily exit through the back door, which was street-level.

Had the ham croquetas, a chicken empanada, a patacon con camarónes and a Hemingway. The croquetas were perfectly crisp on the outside, soft yet not runny on the inside. Hemingway was spot on. Chicken empanada was ok, but flavorful. I'd probably skip that next time.

Cuban-American & avid Cuban cuisine cook reviewing. Overall: fantastic service but the food was hit-or-miss.Ham croquette & Picadillo empanada were both very good.Arroz con Pollo was very good. Small portion, but very tender meat & flavorful rice. Great consistency.Pernil (roast pork) was a tiny portion. It included (literally) two small bite-sized pieces of yuca. Meat was very flavorful but a bit dry.Platanos maduros were *excellent*.Black beans were a fail. Bay leaf & cumin flavors but very under-cooked (hard w tough skin) and not smooth or particularly complex.Mojitos are solid. Not too sweet & well balanced. Nicely muddled & highly recommended ??

Food: was hands-down, delicious we had asked for suggestions on drinks and food and boy did our waitress give us the right recommendations. Everything was flavorful and yummy. I told her I was on the hungry side after I finished my meal there was no room for dessert afterwards or so I thought! I also had the guava and cheese pastry that was supposed to be to go but my friends decided to have another round of drinks so that pastry was a goner! We ate outside in their outdoor seating and it was perfect. We people and dog watched and just really enjoyed brunch. Go here!!!

Omg this place did NOT miss. My friends took me here on a Sunday because they live a couple of blocks down. No wait. Super nice staff. The indoor AND outdoor spaces were cute (there was even a bar outside). And the food was so good and affordable. Literally everything we got was good. When we visited they only were serving appetizers and drinks, so we proceeded to order just about the entire appetizer menu. My drunk (cachucha $16) was delicious and my friends got the classic mojito which they enjoyed ($15). My fav food was the cod croquette and the Cuban nachos but like I said everything was soooo good.
