I was intrigued by the concept of this restaurant and I am so glad I tried it out. They hit it out the park with home run flavors and tastes. It’s a tiny little place in Williamsburg that’s worth visiting. Every dish was delicious. Their Spring Jew Egg, the Okonomiyaki, Grilled Caesar Salad and the Sake Kasu Challah were amazing starters that we shared. The Matzoh Ball Ramen was flavorful and perfect with their soy marinated egg. Yummy!! For dessert we had their banana bread pudding and their Japanese Sweet Potato Cheesecake. Just so good!!! Staff was amazingly good!! I highly recommend Shalom Japan!!

I LOVE this spot! It is such a fun and unique fusion of cuisines and the food is comforting and delicious. The lox bowl, challah bread, and ramen are to die for. 10/10!

A somewhat small restaurant but it's nice and cozy. They have a great mixture of Japanese and Israeli decor to match the theme of the restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and

Creative fusion: mostly Japanese dishes with Jewish touches. Featured cocktails were delicious & they offer sake tastings. Lighter (somehow) & more inspired than either cuisine alone.

The Jewish beet egg dish presented an intriguing fusion of flavors reminiscent of falafel, complemented by a yogurt base. As a fan of beets, I was drawn to this selection. However, despite its appealing taste profile, the dish fell short of justifying its $17 price tag. Moving on to the lox bowl, I found the inclusion of salmon roe to be a detracting factor, impacting my overall enjoyment of the dish. On a more positive note, the matzo ball ramen was a highlight, offering a unique twist on traditional ramen. Nevertheless, my satisfaction was tempered by the disappointment of finding only one matzo ball in the bowl, which felt somewhat lacking given the expectation for a heartier portion.

I'm not sure where people got the idea that this restaurant is kosher when it's clearly stated on their Instagram and website that they aren't. If you want glatt kosher, go into the Satmar part of Williamsburg or drive a few miles into Crown Heights.I heard about this place from a local friend and decided to check it out during my vacation in Brooklyn. The concept is unique - a Japanese-style izakaya offering a fusion of Jewish and Japanese cuisine. The waiter was kind, helpful, and incredibly friendly, guiding us through the menu. The okonomiyaki reminded me of a love child between a pastrami Reuben, a latke, and a Japanese okonomiyaki, with flavors so intertwined you can't distinguish the origins. Some might argue that the prices are high, but I think they miss the point. The dishes are meant to be shared family-style, so when you split the dishes with a friend or two, the prices become quite reasonable. We ordered quite a bit of food between the two of us, and had dessert along with a beer and a sake. We didn’t break the bank.My only gripe is that the restaurant is very small, making it hard to avoid overhearing other people's conversations or having waitstaff squeeze between tables.Overall, it's a hidden gem in the trendy, hip side of Williamsburg.

Such a unique place!! The food was amazing and I loved that golden raisin butter! Also loved the Jewish rye poster in the bathroom!! I saw that at an exhibit a few months ago.

this was really disappointing — we got the challah, the scallops, the wagyu sando and the matzah ball ramen.the challah was incredible and the scallops were perfectly cooked and tasted great. but the sando was really bad: the meat was really chewy and didn’t taste of much, there was barely any mustard on it, and it came with a couple of forlorn pickles on the side rather than being sliced and in the sandwich. it was also tiny and the bread was pretty uninspiring, and in no way felt worth $23.the noodles in the ramen were great, but the matzah ball was claggy and soggy. the drinks were also extremely average, especially given they were $17/18 each.we really wanted to like this place and actually the atmosphere and service was pretty good, but it just didn’t do much for us, and wasn’t worth the price.

The cocktails were very good and so was the food. Me and a friend shared the appetisers so we both tried the challah and the fried lion's mane dish. Both were very good. I had the vegetarian hot pot while my friend had the waygu pastrami sando. She said she wasn't a fan of waygu as pastrami because she prefers pastrami to be a little fattier. The 2 drinks i had persephone's poison and jacobs milk were awesome!Vegetarian options: I had a vegetarian hot pot and fried lion's mane dish that was delicious. It seems they change up their menu.

Was a little trepidations considering how hyped this place is, but it was surprisingly impressive. The matzoh ball soup ramen was very tasty, a delicious marriage of two different soup flavors. The matzoh balls were fluffy and the soup had a lot of chicken elements. Great marinated egg too!The okonomyaki was also excellent with a kraut flavor. The wagyu pastrami was ok, but I’d try something else from the menu next time. Drinks were great and the menu had a lot of options. Employees were super kind!

Pretty underwhelming matzo balls ramen. The concept was interesting, execution not as much unfortunately.Especially at that price point.

Reviews are accurate unfortunately.Ramen bowl took an hour to come out, poor service, and only noticed after we were halfway through our bowl that the chicken was potentially undercooked. Both partner and I simultaneously experienced bad cramps. Praying that the first dates occuring beside us make it through this night
