everything was delicious. You know why cause my mama said so and she's an excellent cook. Oxtails, delicious food pipe and hot but the freshness of it all specially the crabcakes delicious and the eggrolls with a cake a little spice, but not hot perfectly done. I will definitely come back again Gread vibes and great music but it's all about the food for me and the service was good also

The Good. The Bad. The ugly.1st the good- food was amazing. Hands down perfect.The bad-service was slower than molasses ( I used to serve tables so I'm not sure if the server forgot to hit send ( for them to start the dinner) on the ticket while we were eating our starters or if the kitchen is just slow.The ugly- even though we waited over an hour to get our dinner after the apps, they did not even offer us a free drink or anything. Its was as if they didn’t care. My son got his fries 15 minutes after we were long finished eating dinner and you would think they would say, sorry we will take at least the fries off the bill. Nothing. Zip. Nada.

I honestly had a good time, I went for my birthday weekend and enjoyed myself. The wait was not that long maybe a hour MAX which is what I expected. I’m giving it four stars because two irresponsible parents came in with their child knowing he was sick as he just kept coughing and coughing in me and my boyfriend direction. I asked to be moved and they move me but I feel like they should have a no sick policy because the way that boy couldn’t stop coughing it was disturbing. He had a mask he wasn’t even wearing and his parents wasn’t telling him to cover his mouth as we explained that to the waitress.

The food was great...my only problem is that me, along with others from my party of 12 tried calling the restaurant to let them know that we were running late and got no answer. A couple of the workers did their best to accommodate us.It turned out ok thankfully.

The restaurant inside is TINY ...the bar , kitchen areas and bar counter takes up the inside space providing about 6-8 seats inside. We were seated( reservations a must) in the rear of the property and enclosed outside area... heaters available. Cute... I guess. Metal chairs and wobbly tables ( no a problem just warning you) . Food .. nothing authentic about the meals. FYI there was no crab cakes this day. Servers were nice...but no there was no timely service at all. It may have been out our fault , we didn't have any alcoholic beverages, so we were overlooked, the appetizers came out after the entrees and the orders were a bit mixed up. Oh I forgot to say, this was my birthday! I was having an end of a birthday weekend Sunday dinner with five of my family members in the Bedford Stuyvesant community where my Mother still reside . I can go on and on about how bad this dinner experience was but I will sum It up by saying it's a watering hole and if you have several alcoholic beverages you may not mind the time it takes to get your food or even that you received your appetizers after the main course or that it took over 30 minutes to get a cup hot tea for your 82 year old mother. Did I say ? It was actually my 61st birthday! So, we made the best out of the ill experience at the Grotto. Try it out for yourself... just make sure you are drinking alcohol, do not really want to speak to anyone , (music is loud)and you are not hungry! It's definitely an experience. They did COMP the tea and the wings that came when we were ready to make out exit.

The server was very nice, the entire staff that we interacted with was very nice. The food however too forever to be served. We reserved a table for 4:30 and we did not get our food until 6:45. We were weak with hunger. The food was delicious but because we had to wait so long for our food I will not be going back again.
