My partner and his family are originally from New Orleans and love authentic cajun gumbo so I decided to give this place a try. Ordered takeout. I was completely displeased with the gumbo. I ordered the shrimp. I expected for it to have a mixture of chicken and spicy sausage but was I wrong. The gumbo was so watered down and the shrimp were so over cooked I literally ended up throwing the dish away. There goes over $20 in the garbage. Personally I've tasted true authentic gumbo this is not it. May be the cup of tea for others but not for me. Overpriced for no reason. Will not be buying from here again.

Sad to see this place is closing. I frequented it often during the entirety of it's lifespan. All of the gumbos and po' boys have always been extremely solid and my favorite and most exceptionally delicious of all the offerings consistently over the years has been the savory and satisfying Roast Beef Po Boy, dripping with beefy gravy goodness and perfectly melding into a authentic NOLA-imported roll dressed with a generous slab of mayo and stacking of iceberg and thicker slice tomatoes. I've always found this classic Nola po'boy to be exceedingly rare and hard to find in this metro, even at the very few purveyors of NOLA cuisine in greater NYC. If you have a chance to read this review in the remaining day's before this place shutters for good do yourself a favor and get that sandwich.

Underwhelming and mediocre chicken and sausage gumbo with a pathetic amount of meat included. I wanted to like this place but I can't say that I was anything other than disappointed.

I made a review a few years ago and was so jaded by the fact of there being a “ New Orleans-styled” restaurant in Brooklyn, that I total missed the mark. I returned home a few days ago and NOTHING COMPARES TO NEW ORLEANS FOOD OR HOSPITALITY! I ordered a fried turkey at Thanksgiving and it was not marinated the way they do it in NOLA ( there, you could see and taste the herbs and spices on the INSIDE of the turkey). Secondly, the beignets were like white bread sprinkled with some powdered sugar. The dudes that own GB need a lesson in Cajun/Creole cooking. The gumbo was saltier thank anything I ever tasted. This New Orleans transplant in Brooklyn will fly home to get the real thing. ⚜️??✨?

Best fried catfish and fries I've ever had. It was a thing of beauty. Flavorful, perfectly golden brown. Crispy. Absolutely delicious. Waffle fries and sauce that came with the basket were also fantastic. Wish I had taken a picture of this catfish to look back on our time together. I gasped when it was delivered. Gumbo is yumbo - seriously good. Please do yourself a favor and eat here now.

The environment has a semi New Orleans feel to it but the food is far from it. I had the cat fish po boy and seafood gumbo, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. The po boy was decent but I could probably make you a better gumbo , ijs ‍

They had one job - to make good gumbo. And they did it spectacularly. The seasoning is perfect, the gumbo itself is very rich and hearty. I'm glad I pulled over when I saw the sign. Go.

This was our first time eating here. Tried it o a whim and so glad we did. We will definitely be back when we are in Nashville. Andy was fabulous. The food was to die for. We wanted the beignets but were just to full from the alligator bites, gulf shrimp and Nanny's Gumbo. Wonderful atmosphere, great music and fabulous food.

This is a delivery review. We ordered from here last Friday because we wanted to try some cajun and I never had po 'boys before so we went for it. Packaging: They used all disposable paper material, which is fantastic but not when we ordered the Nanny's Seafood Gumbo. We noticed the lid was open and made the bowl very soggy, so a bit of bit leaked out. We also ordered the cajun waffle fries and the fried shrimp Po Boy. Food: The fried shrimp Po Boy comes with lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, mayo, and of course fried shrimp. The one we got did not have much mayo; it was barely noticeable or even tasted any in the sandwich. But overall the sandwich was pretty good just wish there was a bit more Mayo. The Nanny's Seafood Gumbo was average and I don't really enjoy as much as I did with the sandwich so I probably will not get it again. The Cajun Waffle Fries was soggy, but I liked it a lot! Overall: Next time I will come here in person to try it out and see if the quality is just different compare to delivery.

I tried the bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo with a side of fried pickles. The gumbo was decent. It tasted like slightly spicy soup, which I thought could use more chicken and sausage to keep things interesting. The fried pickles were good. There's a lunch special too, but it's only with certain menu items. 3.5 stars.

I came here for lunch and let full + satisfied! I did the $15 lunch combo which came with a half shrimp po’boy, cup of gumbo and drink. It was my first time having both items and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. And the banana pudding was so good! Will definitely be back next time I’m in Brooklyn!

3.5 stars...I would've given just 3 stars, but the quality of the food is so top notch they get an extra half star. The flavor however was lacking when we visited. My daughter got the Shrimp Po Boy. The portion was generous and ingredients were super fresh; bread was pillow soft and warm, shrimp were plump and juicy. It just really needed some kind of seasoning, the shrimp's batter had no flavor at all. I got the small (in a cup) Seafood Gumbo; good sized portion and although it wasn't flavorless, it lacked depth. I don't mean to sound pretentious (because I hate that, I'm actually really down to earth!), but good stews--especially the legendary Gumbo--are a blend of many ingredients that are cooked slow to build flavors. This Gumbo tasted like pure Old Bay seasoning with a dash too much spicy-ness. It had a good amount of seafood though. The Fried Okras were bad. Cut into small pieces (I prefer them whole) covered in a cornmeal batter that taste like nothing! The tangy mayo dipping sauce helped a little. The Beignets were good. They were so fresh and I think I tasted a hint of beer? Which I enjoyed; it was very subtle though so many folks might not even notice. The Good: Amazing service! The two guys there were so nice and looked related (I love family spots). Cozy place that's designed really nice with homages to it's roots in NOLA and Brooklyn references as well. The bad: The bathroom did not smell clean! That's a biggie for me. Especially in such a small place, there's almost no excuse. It was a really pretty bathroom but if it's not clean, looks don't matter and makes me wonder about the cooking area's cleanliness. I'm not ready to give up on Gumbo Bros though! It's possible I caught them on an off day and the positives were enough for me to give them another try. when I do though, that bathroom better be clean!

Great Po Boy. I came back from New Orleans a day before I ordered from this restaurant and I just wasn't New Orleans but they definitely weren't horrible.

Excellent Food, clean facilities, Polite staff!! It's not often you visit a southern style restaurant in a northern state and the food takes you back to your childhood. I grew up in the South, and had a craving for fried okra. I mentioned it to my husband and he decided on surprising me with a cheat meal here with fried okra being on the menu. "Everything" was full of flavor, well seasoned, fresh and yummy. I left behind satisfied. Highly recommend!!
