AMAZING addition to the neighborhood. I’ll start with the hospitality—everyone was beyond welcoming and made us feel like we were at home. The team is all close, family and friends, and they shared some stories about how they source their ingredientes and spices. For the food—delicious! I don’t love spicy food, but the taste of everything was just so special and complex. I loved the crab croquettes were so good, the aromatics were out of this world. Spring rolls, not your average, but so much better, the “surprise and delight” type. The Larb Maung had fantastic flavor, though spicy for me, I loved the complexity and finished the plate. Lastly, love the natural wine selection. Overall, it’s a fancier, twistier version of other Thai restaurants, and there’s nothing you won’t enjoy.

A shrimp appetizer wouldn’t normally quicken the pulse, but for Goong Lui Saun four poached tiger shrimp, shell-on, are doused in a zippy lime-and-fish-sauce dressing that highlights thick coins of fresh lemongrass, large chunks of raw garlic and ginger, Thai chili, whole fried cashews, triangles of lime, peel included, and micro-cilantro. It’s hot, sweet, bitter, and, with all that raw garlic, a thrilling shock.

The food is incredible - an outstanding and sensational meal! I read about the incredible food here in Timeout's Best Things to do in NYC and the exceptional food in the New Yorker. I'm so thrilled that I tried this place - I savored every bite!!! The Chilean sea bass melted in my mouth, and oh my goodness, it was just sooo good! The Kao-Soi - wow, sooo delicious, and the flavors were perfect and complex! The soft shell crab salad appetizer (a special) was so amazing! And then, for dessert, we had this terrific sorbet with basil that just hit the spot and was the perfect way to end the meal!! The drinks were also terrific; just like the food, the flavors were perfect and fresh and just soo soo yummy! Hats off to the talented chef and owner for every single part of this restaurant! The service/wait staff were so kind and sweet, and the atmosphere and ambiance were oh-so-charming! I can't recommend this place enough!!!!

Ok, this was worth the wait. I am definitely planning to come back! It was so good I forgot to take pics. The cocktails were also delicious. I'm typically not a huge fan but damn.

Short review: Small crowded spot. Nice drink selection for a Thai spot. The spicy dishes are indeed spicy. Elevated food with ample flavors but ridiculously tiny portions for dinner. Appetizers are I believe between $12 and $20 I believe and mains are between I believe $25 and low $30s. Lunch is a much better deal and the rating is more for lunch and for the flavors than the portions. This is one of the many (many) Thai restaurants within Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill area. I believe this spot has pedigree from Ugly Baby and another spot. The staff was OK giving suggestions and overall being pretty friendly but they were pretty quick on getting us both seated and us leaving but it makes sense as they're crowded and it was cold out so they wanted people to be able to come in. Place was crowded and as far as I can tell they don't take reservations. I would say they seat maybe 25/30 plus some bar seats. Speaking of bars, they have a nice drink selection compared to most Thai spots. They have local beers and a nice wine selection as well as a fun cocktail menu which are all $17. I had the I'm Walking on Sunshine with whisky (Maker's I believe,) passion fruit, vanilla syrup, orange juice, lemon juice, and lime juice. It was OK with probably a bit too much sourness and the alcohol only existed at the end as a small bite. Another person enjoyed their Sexy Fig. Our group of 8 had the following dishes (3 of the first one) and 2 each of the remaining dishes and we left only partially full because the portions here even for the area are tiny. Our solo appetizer was the Crab Croquettes listed as breaded crab meat and tom yum puree and I believe these were $18 for 3 pieces. This came with three reasonably sized croquettes jam-packed with crab without much filler either. The puree was thickened and had a wonderful kaffir lime and coconut base This was honestly very tasty and my 2nd favorite dish and unlike most of the mains worth it for the price. We went with the following main dishes with one dish listed first as it was the only really good main dish. The rest aren't in any particular order. One dish was the Larb Muang with grilled beef sirloin and a Changmai style spicy salad. I believe this was around $28. This was easily my favorite of the group though not a traditional larb as the meat was in thin slices instead of being chopped up. Outside of that, the flavors were outstanding with some heat but not too much and some sourness and bitterness. The meat was properly cooked as well with a slight chew but not too much. I'd recommend this heavily. Starting the other main dishes, the Pad Prik Khing with sautéed pork with kaffir lime leaves, long beans, and chili paste was well flavored but the portion was tiny. The chili in this was more subtle with plenty of flavor from the kaffir lime leaves and had a good mix of sweet, sour, and spice. The pork was very tender with almost a chicken texture. It was in the mid $20 or so and alright. I think this was the dish that came with the riceberry; a Thai purple rice which adds a good nuttiness to the dish. The Untable E-San Style Chilean Sea Bass with spicy tomato sauce and steamed vegetables was alright. The seabass was again a small portion but it was very tender. There wasn't enough sauce either but the bit they gave was well flavored. It was OK. The final dish that arrived was the one recommended online; their special What The Hell!!! Fried Rice with tiger shrimp, sweet pork, rolled eggs, and veggies condiment. Consisting of a single shrimp, a small handful of pork, and said veggies, this wasn't worth it. Sure it has plenty of heat (and more if you add the bird's eye chili) but not much else. The rice had some light smokiness. This reminded me of a bad unbalanced version of Khao Knook Gapi Boran from the nearby Boran which also has more meat and just better flavors. I decided to go back here for lunch after having gone here for dinner as I did like the flavors and I thought the lunch would be more worth it. They have four choices at th

5 stars for this local gem. Got there around 6:20 and waited 30 min at a nearby bar. Sat at the bar. The space was lovely and service was great. Everyone was friendly and the dishes came out quickly. Ordered the special tom kha, crab croquettes, khao soi, and sea bass. Everything was fantastic, but the tom kha chowder was the winner of the night. And the walking on sunshine was our cocktail of choice, highly recommend.

Didn’t think Time Out’s Restaurant of the Year accolade matched the food. It was good, not spectacular. There’s better Thai food elsewhere

Came here for my birthday, shout out to the kind staff who allowed us a reservation on a Saturday if we showed up at opening time. This place has sprung from the lauded Ugly Baby and my neighborhood's Somtum Der– and that's to be taken quite seriously. The hype is real, the food is very good.Vegan friends, there are great options for you! Among them, our vegan enjoyed the Khang-Ped (mock duck), a very tasty blend of sweet and sour red curry with grapes and pineapple. There was also the standard spicy basil tofu dish, which was more exciting than I expected.I'm not an apps person but we did get the okra and were delighted to find it was not fried (cheating) nor too slimy (not cooked right). We ordered another round for the table. I do regret not getting the crab cakes, but I probably wouldn't have wanted to share ?From the rest of what we ordered, I'd absolutely go back for:-What The Hell!! Fried rice, which by default is a pleasurable spicy, but has an additional sprinkling bird's eye chilis on the side if you wanted to up the ante (and we did)...it burns so good.-Pad Prik Khing, silky soft pork slices with smokey depth from the chili paste and zing from the kaffir. I think this had to be my favorite dish, it was so good we ordered another plate.-There was a whole fried fish chef special, if they have this GET THE SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE OPTION. Crunchy and finger lickin' good.-Ki Mao Seafood was full of ocean flavor, tender squid, and thick bucatini noodles. I thought spaghetti would be an odd combo but if you're a fan of italian this is a happy marriage between the two. Drunken noodles meet allo scoglio. My *single* critique is the Midnight Train to Georgia is an unbalanced cocktail for $17. I like dry or sour over sweet, but this one was neither, and it was the one cocktail out of my friends orders that flopped for me. I'd add more bitters or something sour. On the flipside, the Ma-Krut, Mean Girl, and Baby Be Good are where it's at. I would come back for those and some small dishes at the bar on the reg.Kudos to the UnTable team!
