Our first introduction to a Buffalo mainstay, beef-on-weck—beef on a seeded bun. BIG sandwich with quality fries and onion rings. Most enjoyable low budget meal. Order and soon get you your order. Wednesday was corned beef night and that sandwich seemed a favorite of locals.

Was visiting Buffalo from NC and could not wait for a Beef on Weck. This location was very hard to find especially if you are not local so would recommend adding an exact location. The beef was delicious and tender but found it to be smaller than I remember, we definitely wanted more! But overall was good and a great option for locals wanting a quick lunch.

While we are not wild about Beef on Weck, we decided to give it another try due to the reviews of Charlie the Butcher. While still not a fan, their sandwich was the best Beef on Weck we've had in Buffalo. Their other food is pretty good, as well.

My orders: Ham and Bean soup, Beef on weck PROS + Convenience: Located on the first floor, it's a good spot for workers who work on the floors above. + Quick + Good variety of soups, sandwiches, etc. CONS - The soup isn't anything to write home about. I'd recommend you pass on that. The bread for my sandwich was very salty too. I've been here twice! It's not bad :)

Roast beef was medium well, not rare as shown in the picture. Very disappointing. Was still flavorful and not dry though.
Is there anything more classic Buffalo than eating a Beef on Weck in the atrium of The Ellicott Building? Well, maybe equal to Cole's on Elmwood who also served up a mean sandwich, maybe they still do? Then again, you wouldn't have the incredibly friendly service we enjoyed nor the ambiance of this special architectural gem in downtown Buffalo, at one time the largest office building in the country. Thinly sliced beef - but far from "piled high" or resembling their photos- with pretty good horseradish on a classic Weck roll with pretzel salt & caraway seeds, I don't know if you can find this sandwich elsewhere. So enjoy!
