Just stood by the hostess counter for 15 minutes being ignored while no less than 10 employees stood around pretty much doing nothing. Was told wait would be one hour and that I could eat at the bar. I wound up turning around and walked out. Don’t think I’ll ever return given such a rude and unwelcoming reception.

Food is always good and atmosphere is great. Our server was a very sweet old lady and she took great care of us.This last time I was at Chef's I attended an event that was incredible. It was called "A Taste of Italy" and the location they featured was Sicily. The meal consisted of a four-course food and wine pairing. The first coast was an Arancini balled that was the size of a softball and stuffed with rice, ground beef, and peas, and sat in their red sauce. This was accompanied by a white Grillo wine. It was so good, and more than enough for one person. The second course was bucatini pasta with a red sardine sauce. This course was paired with a Merlot. The sardines were not overpowering and it was so good. I ended up having to take half home because I was already getting full. The third course was grilled swordfish with olives, capers, fresh lemon, and olive oil, with a side of fingerling potatoes. This course was paired with a Biano wine. Incredible, and even though I hate olives, the taste of them on the fish with the rest of the items was perfect. I also took half of the fish home. The last course was a cannoli, and I normally don't care for them, but these were perfect and very delicious. They also included warm homemade bread and coffee at the end. I can't wait for the next event in September, and highly recommend these events if you are a foody like me!

Came here for dinner last night and was surrounded by all the stars of the world! So many famous people Visiting and I can see why. Excellent service from the moment we sat down. I love the decor! I like all the gallery style portraits hung everywhere. The food was sooooooo bomb. Best marinara ever. We ordered the spaghetti parm, pesto pasta and French onion soup. The pasta were both excellent! We got an extra order of sauce and tried 1 meat ball. So so so good! The French onion has the best flavor. Can't wait to create many many more memories here.

This place has been around forever and has great vibes. The food isn’t the most high end Italian food you can get, but it was exactly what we expected and all delicious. For three adults we got two entrees with sides of meatballs and it was plenty of food.

I recently visited Chef's Restaurant, a spot that's practically an institution here in Buffalo. It's been around since 1923, and from the looks of it, nearly everyone in town has stopped by at least once. The walls are plastered with photos and signatures of celebrities, athletes, and local figures, giving the place a cozy, if not slightly crowded, atmosphere. Now, I know saying this might as well be blasphemy in Buffalo, and I'm fully prepared to be chased down Delaware Avenue for it, but I personally think Chef's is overrated. There, I said it. The place is famous for its spaghetti parmesan, among other hearty Italian-American dishes that are undoubtedly rich and comforting. But honestly, there's no need to "parm a parm." It's this kind of excessive indulgence that, in my opinion, contributes to the stereotype of Buffalonians being overweight. I know many will vehemently disagree with me, standing by their beloved Chef's with a passion that rivals their love for the Bills or the Sabres. But for me, it's just too much.Despite my critique, I can't deny that Chef's has a charm to it, with its long history and community involvement. It's clear that it holds a special place in the hearts of many here in Buffalo. While my opinion might not be popular, I think it's important to share a different perspective, even if it goes against the grain.

Pro: Food excellent but they need to bring back their veal cattiatore from years ago. It was so delicious! Con: They need bigger tables. Party of 4 has no room for all the plates, glasses, wine, etc...
This is not a top restaurant in buffalo .. it’s American Italian .
