By far one of the coolest bars in Buffalo! I've been wanting to stop by for awhile and was thrilled to finally be in the area and have some free time. I was pleased to find a tiny gothic literary themed spot with amazing and interesting drinks. You might have to be patient when ordering or getting a seat but it's well worth the it. This spot is decorated to the nines with Halloween-ish, gothic, spooky stuff and it's fun to check it all out. We tried the tepache which was alcohol made from a fermented pineapple and the watchdog cocktail. The tepache was super interesting and new to us. Was very sweet and pineapple-y. The watchdog was perfect for a cold dark night. It warmed me up and had hints of orange. Lots of neat and different kinds of drinks here and some bar snacks as well if you are hungry. Bartender was friendly and helpful with menu questions. They also serve absinthe and it's fun to watch them put it together. I also learned that this place serves as a community library. There are books all over and you are welcome to take or borrow some to read. They also make it clear they are LGBTQ+ friendly so all are welcome to come and enjoy.

Think goth meets voodoo in the French quarter, but way cleaner. Has nice merch, and good selection of absinthe.

The guy at the bar was super friendly and informative about the drinks and gave me a detailed explanation about absinthe. The atmosphere was so chill and fun.Loved the lite brite and other games. It was so cool to see a free library in a bar.I will definitely be back when I'm in town.

Sometimes I don't feel welcome here and the beer is very expensive. I like it here though.

Went here for my 21st birthday, me and my mom had been talking about going for ages and finally made it happen. Everyone was very welcoming and happy to celebrate my birthday with me. When we have the chance we stop by and have a drink. The owners are super friendly, and the overall atmosphere is very chill and cozy but on the spooky side. They have so many interesting drinks you don’t really see other locations have, and the food that they offer is always delicious.Vegetarian options: All of their food they offer is vegan, and super delicious.

the male bartender told me he didn't like me for no reason and I cried :') so I'll never go back again. Great ambiance, cool decor but why be so rude to a paying customer for absolutely no reason????

Last night I went to the merry Shelly for the first time. Upon arrival the decor was on theme and fun, especially for Halloween weekend. The bartender was helpful and the seltzer chosen was delicious. However... when the co owner "Cedric" walked in and saw my and my friends boyfriend sipping drinks and casually (and quietly) watching the bills game on their phone he immediately spoke his opinion. He made groaning comments and when I said excuse me? He said "this is not a TV bar!" And I said so? Cedric looked me dead in the eye and said "do you want to throw down?" And then proceeded to call me a bitch. When my friend went to talk to him, him and the bartender sent her back to our group in tears and we promptly left. I am incredibly disappointed by the service and outwardly rude and unwelcoming comments made by the OWNER. I will not be returning.
